I'm leaning toward cleaning house this offseason.

1) Bye-bye Dumars. Thanks for everything, but time for both sides to move on.

2) Bye-bye Loyer!

3) Trade Monroe for PLUS asset(s). Need to build around Drummond. Maybe #8 and Monroe to move up into the top-3 for Parker or Wiggins? (Monroe/8 to Milwaukee for Henson/2 or 3 perhaps?) We need a PF that can at least hit the 15-18 footers with regularity without being a total matador defensively.

4) Trade Smith and Jennings for expirings? Is that too unrealistic? Both to the Knicks for Amare or Bargs would be golden.

5) Need a fresh, new start!

Monroe + 8 for Henson + 2/3 would be the trade of the century for the Pistons

In regards to getting Deng from the above post, NOOOOOO WAY. Deng is another Tayshaun dont want him with our young players he is way past his prime sorry

Would even do Monroe/Singler/8 for Henson+ the 2 or 3.

Why dont we just make it:

Monroe / KCP / #8 / Poop / Singler for #1 + Henson + Ilyasova

I would, easily. That would give us the choice of Exum or Jabari to pair with Drummond/KCP. Not sure about Henson's potential, he could probably be a backup to the frontcourt and not many people would complain. I'm really high on Jabari's offensive potential and shot creating ability, so pairing him with Drummond would be very nice.

Monroe and the #8 aren't getting you into the top three, and the draft is a month before S&T's can be done.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Proposed on the Trade forum

Detroit gets Lee, Barnes
GSW gets Josh Smith, #8

I didn't think the value was quite there so I suggested these alternatives.

Detroit gets Lee, Barnes, #17
GSW gets Josh Smith, #14, #26
PHO gets #8

OR

Detroit gets Lee, Barnes, Martin
GSW gets Josh Smith, #13
Minnesota gets #8

No, no, and no. We're giving away the best player in all these deals so why trade the lottery pick. Josh Smith isn't Ben Gordon.

Why not just keep it simple and trade #8 for Barnes?

Can I see a trade where I don't feel like Detroit gets scammed?

And I don't even want value for Smith, if he can be moved for an expiring contract, I believe that's an A+ trade.

But, I wouldn't trade the 8th pick in a deep draft (that guarantees 4 years of a cheap contract on a potential franchise changer) for Lee's large salary and the final couple season of Harrison Barnes, who has not impressed at all this season, and didn't honestly impress at all last season outside of one big game against San Antonio.

GSW fans howled at what a great deal it was for them. Barnes had a bad year and is not worth the #8.

I think our best realistic possibilities in the PG position are:

Lin
Collison
Isaiah Thomas
Lowry

I don't know what could we offer for Lin, but seems hard to get him here. He's not a good defender, but not just bad, and he can play well the pick n roll, we need players who can play the pick n roll and shoot for 3.

Collison could be a legit option, maybe he's not great in anything but he's good in everything.

Isaiah Thomas is near to the awful Jennings' defense, but he's great shooting, we need players who can shoot like him.

Lowry maybe came here if we overpay him, but I think he will got more interesting options than the dysfunctional Pistons.

5-team trade I've been thinking of

-Pistons get: Sanders, Green
-Nets get: Smith, Asik
-Bucks get: Lopez, Thornton, Olynyk
-Rockets get: Ilyasova, Jerebko, Pistons 2nd rounder
-Celtics: Mayo, Motiejunas

Jennings
KCP
Green
Monroe/Sanders
Drummond/Sanders

Sanders will be an expensive back-up but at least he'll be able to cover Monroe's flaws on defense when he shifts to the 5. Our 4/5 combo will be set.

Any way to lose Jennings in the process?

I think you forgot to add that IT is also a chucker. For the starter PG spot, Pistons should show no interest in him.

if David Lee was 26 this would be the steal of the year.

1. win 1st overall pick in the lottery
2. 4-team trade w/ Cha/Chi/Pho. 1st and 38th for future 1st returned and the 4 mid 1st's of Chi/Pho
3. Jerebko opts out
4. KCP/Mitchell/Harrelson for 12th or so pick.
5. draft five role players around Drummoosingler
6. Jennings/Datome/Smoove for Amare
7. sign one-year deals to round out the roster.
8. Be happy whether the team wins or loses next season.
9. Be happy that the future is bright either way.
10. Get some roadhead from a chick out of your league.
