Yeah Bucks have been a nice surprise. I'm not surprised that they took 1 game but def wasn't expecting them to take 2. Henson, Middleton and MCW were beastly last game. Very impressed by the Bucks- they start 3 nonshooters and they are young and are putting up a fight in the playoffs. Itll be interesting to watch how they grow but theyve got a great core with MCW/Middleton/Giannnis/Parker and Henson is starting to look like a good piece as well. If they manage to land a good C in FA like Monroe they can be scary good.

When Parker gets back they're going to be pretty legit.
Kidd has really turned that team around. their defense is very impressive versus a bulls team that is normally well drilled.

So uh... I never wish injury on anyone... but something about KLove being out feels... good. I hate to use the word karma given Clevelands history of ya know... sucking n'stuff, but I'm tired of all the collusion and players dictating to teams (whom they are under contract with!!) where they want to play.

Non of that is to say I wouldn't sign the guy in a heartbeat if he decided to play for Detroit. :-)

Dont forget the Cavs traded TWO #1 overall picks for a season rental of Love

If Love bolts after this season it will surely go down as one of the worst deals ever

NBA rigged the lottery to give Cleveland the #1 overall pick so Love could be traded for it and Lebron could return home with all the media hype and hoopla surrounding that storyline

Karma is a bittch

Yeah I definitely feel the same way.
Lebron had far too much help recently. Losing Love means he needs to step up big time.

Just wait until Tristan Thompson has an ok series and GM Lebron gives him a full rookie max that agent Lebron gladly accepts the commission on.....

I have a funny feeling about the whole Lebron leaving - returning angle. I'm an admitted NBA conspiracy theorist, but the last 5 years has felt too convenient. The NBA needed Lebron as the top dog to transition from the Kobe-Garnett-Duncan era. The Cavs were stuck when he was there before, short of a Spurs like late draft find (something they look incapable of even with the #1 pick), they were going to have a hard time clearing the cap space to make a big enough move to push over the top while still fielding a competitive team around Lebron. So he leaves to play on a stacked team, takes the blame knowing he'd be the prodigal son when he returned and allowed the Cavs to tank and Dan Gilbert to play the "this is not fair, I know your secrets" card and stack lotto wins. Meanwhile Gilbert decries super teams and is instrumental in blocking the CP3 to the Lakers trade. When the time is right and the Cavs are ready, here comes Lebron riding back into town with Gilbert having successfully stacked the chips to build his own super team, which he did in short order.

Like you allude to, "Karma is a you-know-what". People who cheat the system and throw lotto wins in everyone's faces the way the Cavs did tend to get what's coming to them.

All true, but "prodigal son" doesn't mean what you think it means. As a GRE teacher (among other things), this drives me bananas.

"Prodigal" is "wastefully extravagant" or "lavish". It's an insult in most cases. It has nothing to do with "prodigy" (extraordinarily talented and often young). LeBron was a basketball prodigy, certainly. He wasn't the prodigal son when he returned, but might be thought of as the prodigal son when he left!

Sorry. So many people misuse this word, it's become my mission to point this out.

But the term "prodigal son" is derived from a parable in the Bible so the exact definition of prodigal is a bit irrelevant. "Prodigal son" denotes someone who left his home to go out on his own to live a life of riches but eventually came back poor with his tail between his legs and realized his fathers way of life was correct. I don't think anyone thinks it has anything to do with being a "prodigy" so casting Lebron as the "prodigal son" works within the context of the parable.

It works from the angle of home loyalty, and the goodwill you might say he "wasted" when he fled to Miami. The Cleveland fans were pretty worked up at the time. He hardly returned chastened, as he went to 4 championship series and won 2. He's the beneficent figure upon his return. How wasted anything actually was is debatable, as it didn't take the Cleveland fans long to forgive him.

I can't believe Cavs fans are calling for Olynyks head. Ridiculous

Yeah, some yahoo over on both the Cleveland and General boards was talking like he better be careful if he comes to town as he might not be safe. Made comments about him "ripping a man's arm out" and such. It really looked to me like all Olynyk was trying to do was pull love away from the ball so his guard could get it. It was a foul, but to suggest intent to injure seems a little strained. At the same time, they're very understanding of JR Smith's behavior.

Some good reads (don't post though).

This is what I meant. It doesn't exactly fit the biblical parable, but the loose theme.

The hypocrisy is thick with them. I get it, it's an emotionally charged situation but times like this I kind of wish Realgm would be liberal with a 24-48 hour cool down period

My bad, y'all. I'm definitely on the ignorant side when it comes to Biblical stuff. That said, left rich and came home with his tail between his legs doesn't sound much like LeBron... left and came back with two titles.

Wow Clippers and Paul. And even more wow about the Spurs.

The West is wide open with anyone to be honest. I still think GSW will go all the way than others since they have a bench that's really solid unlike the Clippers.

What a hell of a playoff series though, this might be the most interesting yet.

He's still schooling these young bloods left and right at a young age of 39, I think at most we'll see 2 more seasons from Timmy.

Funny, I said that literally 3 years ago. The man doesn't age and should be a model to all players.

His game is not predicated on athleticism which is a why he's able to prolong his career as long as well, that and Pop is the anti Thibs.

Was a good game between the clips and spurs.I also still think the warriors take it.I also wonder if paul can stay healthy for the rest of the playoffs.Clips vs rockets should be a good series as well, alot of really good 2nd rd matchups.

Tipping my hat to the league MVP. Well deserved.

It'd be crazy if they won the finals too.

Return to Detroit Pistons
