I just pray we don't offer anything close to what we can. We've got some actual assets now that I'd very much like to hold onto, including future flexibility, picks, and a few prospects of varying importance.
I’m terrified of what they may give up for a contract that other teams don’t want.
Additionally, I’d hate to pay Westbrook the last year or 2 of that deal.
Consider we gave up expiring (Bradley), a very good player (Tobias), and first/second round pick for Blake when there wasn't really a market for him. Obviously SVG isn't running the show, and I'd like to think we've seen more caution from the current management group.
I'm cautiously optimistic that even if we're looking to get Westbrook that we won't be dumb enough to give up pieces like Luke and Sekou for him. Here's where I hope I'm NOT wrong.
I'm not sure I'd want the Pistons to be committed to Westbrook for 4 seasons for strictly expirings much less adding picks/ assets.
I just keep thinking about Tom Gores infatuation with Andres Double Doubles like it has some sort of success metric and worrying that he'll take that same philosophy with Russ' triple doubles.
