JD is on the precipice of being a really good player. You can feel it. The timing on defense. The nice passing. Dunking everything he can. Strong rebounding.

Obviously has a lot to work on at age 21. Foul problems. Quicker reads on help defense. More post moves and/or expanding his range, at least to the free throw line.

Fun Duren stats;

2nd in the NBA in dunks w/ 166 (Giannis, 177) (there isn’t a dunk rate stat I can find, but I’m sure Duren leads it)
1st in the NBA in total rebound percentage at 22.2% (essentially tied with Sabonis)
4th in the NBA in true shooting % at 71.2 (J Allen, 72.7)
10th worst in the NBA in fouls/36 at 4.4 (Clingan, 5.7)

Stewart’s foul rate is actually a little worse than Duren’s, but he’s coming off the bench and making his presence felt. Those two guys are really playing well except for the excessive fouling.

I always get nervous when he bring the ball up the court instead of passing it off. Last night, he waived off THJ and brought the ball up the court. He does have decent ball handling skills for a big.

JD has a good handle for a center, and I like that JBB is letting him do a little of that on the break.

Big road trip this week. Four games, Monday-Wednesday-Saturday-Sunday. Utah, Clips, Dubs (I’ll be there!), Blazers.

Anything less than 2-2 would be a big disappointment. 3-1 should be the goal. Once we get back, it’s a pair of home games against the Wiz, so it’s time to stack some wins.

Fast break JD is a turnover 85% of the time.

Yeah I agree. We have historically lost in Utah I feel like forever. Clips will be tough. Warriors have new life and Blazers are playing pretty well. Gonna be a tough one.

If anyone wants to chime in on the T&T Board (“Booker pick value” thread), please do. I’m having an interesting back-and-forth with a couple Suns posters that sound a little greedy to me. :)

Maybe I'm being a bit too optimistic, but I am not even really looking at Miami/Orlando anymore it feels like we've got such a healthy lead I'm really only looking and Indy and Milwaukee and both seemingly have been doing a lot of winning lately. The 4/5/6 race could come down to the last week.

I just see a better shot at a competitive series vs Knicks than vs indy or Bucks so I'd prefer 6seed.

I agree, I haven't paid attention to those teams behind us in weeks. I said it about a month back that everybody kept matter-of-factly expecting Orlando to just run past us once they got healthy and I wasn't just conceding a top 6 spot to them.

The way I see it, the 10 teams in the east as it stands is the 10 we'll see. I don't see Philly or Brooklyn catching Chicago for the last playin spot (which is pretty disastrous for Chicago). Maybe Philly finds some mojo after shutting down Embiid. I think 1-3 are locked in. Even though NY is only 3 games behind Boston, Boston will just continue to stave them off.

The only big questions how will Milwaukee, Indy and us ultimately end up. We have 4-6 locked up but it's just about what order will we be. Same for 7-9, those spots are all but locked in, it's just about deciding the order of the 3.

5 games up with 21 games is a very healthy lead. Even if we went .500, the others would have to go 15-5

#6 isn’t a bad seed. Knicks first round, then probably Boston.

#4 or #5 gets us Indy or Milwaukee in the first round. Higher probability to win for sure, but 2nd round would be the Cavs.

4-6 is the range. At least we’re avoiding the play in.

If the season ended today the pick we'd send the Wolves would be number 20. That absolutely blows my mind.

I don't think Milwaukee or Indy are a higher probability to win than New York. We match up better with New York (we love going against teams with poor rim protection, and Cade plays Brunson really well). Giannis in beast mode is just a struggle for us and Lopez beasts out against us. Indy we should be OK against on paper, but they just get in our heads like no other team.

Boston and Cavs both have it over us in terms of talent, but better chance of catching Boston being lazy and lacking hunger.

Mitchell Robinson is back now. So is their rim protection.
