Wait I actually liked Ken. He knew what he was doing and was pretty integral within our analytics movement within the FO.
Dang.

Agree - and he wasn't just a numbers guy - Ken Doll used to actually play the game!
I'm interested to see who replaces him. Pretty important position...having a basketball guy in it would have given us an advantage over a straight up numbers guy...

Lots of potential and more to grow. Proud to call him part of the core.

Defense starts as a team movement approach which the Spurs have done perfectly. Everyone is mobile, communicating, and active.
They all move together in a flow, it's really amazing to watch. We really need them to watch profusely, especially RJ and Tobias.

They got the best defensive system evolved through the years and the best coach ever in a superstacked team.

Naaah, it's all about offense, spreading the floor, KCP'S FAULT, poor RJ...
Great defense leads a team to great offense. Period.

Man, if the Hornets won, it would've been a pretty decent feel good story.
Now for Jeremy to make his arrival to DET.

SVG's Magic had a top 5 defense for years with Meer, Hedo, JJ, Ryno either starting or playing major minutes. And, all those players are below average defensive players. Yet, SVG devises a team defensive system that works. He will do that in Detroit. Just takes time.

I love SVG, but most of Orlando's defensive success was because Dwight was dominating the paint. The rest of the guys were free to roam and rotate because the big fella was back there erasing their mistakes.

He developed the player and creates the system, so it was 50/50, but agree, even he being one of the most douchebags ever, prime Dwight was an unbelievable dominant force on the defensive end and a good dominant player on offense.

This is true. People forget how much of a beast prime Dwight really was. He was everything you really wanted out of Ben Wallace with added bonus being the best PnR roll man in recent memory.

Re: Around the League
I apologize in advance if this reopens Pandora's Box, but I swear it has nothing to do with the whole "RJ Celebrating Incident" — why the hell isn't the media all over Russell Westbrook's ass?
Seriously, lost in the insanity of the end of that game last night is the fact that, at one point, RW hogged the ball and took shots on SIX STRAIGHT POSSESSIONS WITHOUT PASSING TO A TEAMMATE. Then, when his coach correctly benched him for it, he responded by pouting and sulking at the end of the bench, and even moved down two seats to get FURTHER AWAY from a team huddle that Donovan was conducting.
And I even heard some of the talking heads make excuses for him! "He's just so competitive that he wants to take over this game! That's the type of guy I want on my team!"
No, you don't. No one in the history of the NBA was more competitive than Larry Bird, and he NEVER would've ignored his teammates like that. Ditto Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, or (right across the court from RW last night) Tim Duncan. Plus, Westbrook's the freakin' POINT GUARD, the extension of the coach on the floor; for a PG to hog the ball like that under any circumstance is flatly inexcusable.
Then there's his reaction to being benched. People around here wanna criticize Dre for sulking when SVG pulls him in Hack-a-Shaq situations? What Westbrook did last night was exponentially worse. Dre's a 22 year old center who gets frustrated by the shortcomings in his own game; Westbrook's 27, supposed to be a team leader, and he pouted like a spoiled little brat and went out of his way to show up his coach when he actually did his job and coached him.
Rant over, but I'm officially out on Russell Westbrook — he is a great but selfish individual talent who just doesn't get it and will never win an NBA title (think this generation's Allen Iverson).

Was actually thinking the same thing. I think when he got put back in he bricked 1-2 shots pretty close to being in a row too. I was kinda hoping they would lose because Durant had it going, but Westbrook wanted to shoot.
