Re: Around the League
I came here to post essentially what Pharaoh did. Cleveland going through Atlanta like a hot knife through butter really shines a light on how competitive we were. Given our youth and how we finished the season with Tobias, I could see us in the 2-4 range next year even without any additional pickups. If we do get either a Delly OR an Amir then we will be quite strong.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Re: Around the League
We'd need to unload Meeks on someone to do it though. Maybe package him with our 1st (which takes up cap space) and Bullock then we could sign Ryno with space left over for a Vazquez or DJ Augustine backup PG

Oh God that is horrible. That's a Joe Dumars move.

Re: Around the League
I'm Joe Dumars! Lol. But Nah, that ain't that bad. We have 7good players with Baynes and Stanley off our bench. Then we get Ryno-awesome. Vazquez would be sweet in my opinion too.
We don't need youth(draft pick). We have Hilliard who gives us just as much as Meeks or Bullock. Or similar at least

Re: Around the League
We need bigger pf that can defend and Ryno is not much better than Illyasova, injury prone and will be overpaid this summer, probably max or close to max.
And trading 1st round pick and backup sg who had good season for us last just to unload 1 year 6 mil deal is terrible.

Re: Around the League
Joeger fired by the Grizzlies. That's insanity. A couple of poor coaching decisions in the last week, the other being Vogel getting ousted from Indiana.
Doubt either will be unemployed for more than a season, one or both could wind up with jobs this offseason.

Re: Around the League
Vogel and Joerger are basically 1A and 1B in terms of coaching ranks that are among the available with the exception being Blatt but the jury is still out whether he was hampered coaching wise by Lebron or he was carried by James. It's going to be interesting if Joerger goes to the Kings. Vogel to the Knicks would be fun too.
This highlights the insanity of the coaching carousel this season. The first domino was Thibodeau really from last year.

Re: Around the League
I'd have said Joeger was a shoe-in for the Wolves job (they wanted him before the Grizz brought him back at the last second) if they hadn't already hired Thibs.

This coaching carousel is why SVG needed full control!
Thibs, Blatt, Vogel, Joeger, Hornacek!

Yeah it's simply unreal how often coaches get fired when performing at, or even above the expectations they have based on their roster. The Grizzlies making it into the playoffs with all of their injuries was incredible in and of itself. Thibs consistently got the most out of his teams and Rose's injury took away any real shot he had at a championship. Vogel taking the 2nd seed Raptors to 7 games with very little talent outside of PG is apparently also not enough for Larry Bird. Hornacek's team got dismantled by their GM (trading away Dragic & Thomas, and Morris) and he pays the price for it.

There are great GMs too that lets coaches do whatever they want like Brad Stevens and Terry Stotts. A GM and coach just need to be in total sync, much like how Pop and Buford run that organization. Although it's probably more Pop since he was the GM before he took over as coach.

Don't discount Buford. He's as smart as they come

Atlanta swept.
Maybe we weren’t that bad.

Wouldn't mind it. Paying that much $ tho idk about that. The team would be basically set and I think ecf would be the ceiling maybe one finals appearance

Re: Around the League
This Spurs vs OKC game. This is almost like the actual finals.
So good. And even though his offense sucked, Westbrook's ability to run the offense and be locked in with that mentality...I wish we had someone like that. Wow. 15 assists against the Spurs juggernaut.

In SVG We Trust wrote:This team with Amir Johnson and Dellavedova could be a hell of a team. We probably would take the Cavs to the 6 or 7 games.
That right there would be 2 nice backups who are only needed for 15-20mpg which could transform the Pistons second unit to be very solid.

Re: Around the League
Curry is insane. Coming off an injury and just solos the entire POR team to win it in the final minutes of the game.
I really don't think we'll see a player like him for a long time. His ability to be mentally focused into the game and not get rattled is very MJ-esque.

Woah Scott Skiles steps down as Magic coach after only 1 year. Apparently no one saw this coming

Skiles wanted a new vet PG and Hennigan wanted Elfrid Payton to be the PG.
