The Grizzlies are waiving Bismack Biyombo and he's a better backup big than Wiseman or Bagley.... we should consider cutting our losses with one of Livers, Killian or Wiseman and we should bring someone who can actually provide some paint defense to back up Duren.

We've gotten flat out embarrassed in the paint the last few games.

One of our biggest needs is a veteran third stringer Center that can play whenever needed and whenever Stewart is injured, assuming he will be moved to the backup C, which I doubt.

Wiseman and Bagley should not be in the NBA, if they're getting minutes we are going to lose.

Lakers, Heat, 76ers, Pistons, Knicks have expressed interest in Dejounte Murray

I'd want him. Hes a great defender and kind of a tweener on offense, not a pg, or a sg, so he'll fit perfect with Cade!

Yeah if we can package Ivey for him then I'm down

He'd be considered a "bad asset" because he has 3-4 years left on his contract, but I don't see it that way, since Detroit has been a weigh station for a while. We could probably have him for cheap, and I wouldn't blink trading Ivey... They traded John Collins for a 2nd round pick just to save some money, so maybe we can help their owner achieve financial stability

Murray isn’t the best fit for them, but they’re not donating a guy averaging like 20 pts, 5 rebs, and 5 assists per game with a good 3 point percentage on like 6 attempts per

Murray is better than Collins, who only got a 2nd round pick. I don't mind the Pistons giving more than that, proportionately to their recent history.

Someone mentioned Ivey. I don't know if they would take him, but Ivey has a career average of 16-5-4.

I'd guess the Hawks would start with Ivey + Bojan or Ivey + Stewart as what they'd want for Murray. I'm honestly not really sure what the plan is for the Hawks they are in the 11/12 seed with the Raptors looking like a play-in team at best. Bey is third on their team in minutes played behind only Trae and Murray at 32.6 MPG and he's actually the only starter with a positive +/- at +1.0 per game.

They are in a position right now where they have $163 million already on the books for next year which leaves them with about $9 million to spend before the luxury tax kicks and their ownership doesn't want them in the luxury tax. So right now they are losing Bey for nothing and not able to spend all the MLE unless they shed some of their 2024-25 salary off the books.

Dejounte Murray $25.5 (plus possible incentives)
Clint Capela $22.2
De'Andre Hunter $21.7
Bogdan Bogdanovic $17.3

They pretty much need to shed one of those guys (or two) for cheaper replacement players possibly on a rookie deal so that they can keep Bey in FA and also use the MLE to add someone.

bstein14 wrote:The SGA(25), Chet(21), and Jalen Williams(22) trio is looking incredibly promising. Jalen Williams is just 22 and looking far ahead of our #5 pick Ivey from last year he's averaging an efficient 18+ PPG (44% from deep) and playing solid D.

Tonight that trio combined for 84 points on 31-44 shooting including 7-9 from deep. Just an incredible 3 player foundation still super young and full of potential.

Another even more ridiculous box score from OKCs 139 - 77 beatdown of Portland... We've had a horrid season but at least we haven't lost by 62 points yet. https://www.nba.com/game/por-vs-okc-0022300529/box-score

At some point, Scoot’s gonna start getting compared to Killian. Not good for Scoot, to say the least.

Does Bey cost them more than Hunter next summer.

Bey is probably a four year MLE contract waiting to happen. He’s a 5th starter or 6th man. We have only won 5 games in the 11 months since trading him away.

Between how Scoot and the Thompson twins have looked thus far, I'm feeling very vindicated for my strong "shooting ability matters a lot" stance before this year's draft.

NBA insiders said the Hawks, in their discussions with the Knicks, talked about a Dejounte Murray trade with Atlanta seeking Immanuel Quickley and a first-round pick.

I'd be happy to give them a 1st round pick and someone else.. Dejounte can play on both ends. Fans don't want to wait years before we have a certified bust.

So Ivey and a 1st gets it done? Whats the next year 1st we can trade?

Quickley and a pick sounds steep for the Hawks. I doubt they get a package of that value for him.

I feel like its hard to say how "valuable" Quickley is as a RFA about to get paid. If he gets $120 million contract he's a lot less exciting than he is on a $80 million contract. Will a desperate team overpay for him? Depending on who signs extensions and how he plays for the rest of the year he could be a top 3 or 4 FA this summer.

Just think, if we'd kept Bey, we might've won 6!

We probably would have won at a similar rate as we were winning prior to him being traded. Which is still bad, but not historically bad.

We've all seen how the lack of floor spacers and offensively talented players bogs down the entire offense. Bey is actually an NBA caliber rotation player unlike guys like Livers, Hayes, Wiseman, etc.

We can probably get a 1st for Bojan (Bojan for THJr and a 1st from Dallas for example).

So it would likely cost Bojan and Ivey to get Dejounte Murray.

I don’t see why the Hawks would want Ivey for Murray. He’s a worse fit with Trae than Murray is.
