There's no weak drafts. Always winners available.

Some drafts have less all stars than others, but smart teams can always find good players.

Beg to differ. If you have to scour, it's a weak draft.

A weak draft doesn't mean there are no good players. It means there aren't blue-chippers falling into lottery teams' laps.
And any draft that requires 'smart teams' to 'find' the good players is a draft where Detroit's in big trouble.

This is not a draft with a Duncan, Lebron, or Zion. There are a few guys that could be all-stars but there is no clear cut franchise player type guy at the top that teams would tank for a better chance to get.

That said, I think there are 4 to 5 guys near the top I'd be real happy to get so as long as we are in the top 5 or one of them moves down a spot or two I'll be happy. I

I still really want Edwards though. Dude has some crazy shot selection with the step back 3s and stuff but his abilty to create his own offense on 3 levels with the athleticism is probably the most rewarding gamble at the top of the draft

Kids built and skilled enough as well to drive it inside in the NBA at a high clip if he develops the mindset too more often.

Edwards is projecting as the no.1 pick right?

I hope we get either of the above, LaMelo would be the purest PG we've had in a minute.

It'd really suck if we ended up with a big man tbh.

Honestly im coming around on Okongwu. Scouts are really high on his potential as a modern center like Bam.

Could be a good pairing with wood cause hes not offensively flawed and has elite defensive potential.

Wiseman is the type of big im not really interested in though.

Of course this is something to look into if we end up drafting around 5 and dont move up to get Edwards or Ball.

I'm big on Okoro & Okongwu because of their defensive potential.

Say what you like about the league being all O all the time but you still gotta be able to defend when it gets tight.

<firstworldproblems>
No in-person workouts, lack of March Madness etc means there's a real void when it comes to conventional scouting. I would think that would create more of an opportunity than normal for people to slip through the cracks and teams high up to swing and miss big.

Too bad it has to happen in such a weak draft class.... We might not even notice the difference.

Reading up on Okongwu, he sounds pretty nice. I think the key is the ability to move his feet on the perimeter.

We've drafted Kennard and Knight in the top 12 fairly recently, but I can't remember us ever taking a guard with true star potential. This is partly due to rarely having access to the top end of the draft.

Apparently Okungwu has a 7'2" wingspan...

Teaming him with Wood and Sekou long term might be awesome assuming Sekou develops as a 3/4.

Next season just throw him and Sekou out there and we'll see what we see:

Wood 33 Okongwu 15
Blake 28 Okongwu 10 Sekou 10
Snell 28 Sekou 20

Rest Blake enough, showcase Snell enough and let the future get quality minutes.

Okongwu has good touch around the basket and at least a few post up moves along with some quickness.

Problem is he doesnt appear to be a shooter and thats the league.

Hard to say, above my pay grade. Toppin looks like the kind offensive player made for 2020s NBA. Wood and Sekou are good defenders that should get better. Adding a high octane scorer to go with Wood and Sekou shooting 3s and dunking sounds nice.

I like him every das more and more as Option...he has all the Talent as a Big point Guard...perhaps his shot is broken but his vision..his Passing abilitys....i think he will be a star within 3 years

RIght, I think the play is Ball if he's available, I think he has the highest upside of the PG's in this class, plays a position of need out there.

Whoever drafts Ball will be bitching about his shooting for years, talking how he still has "upside" 5 years into his career.

It's still a wings league... guards are fun but wings help you win because they impact the game more on both ends.

i would love to see the Pistons get Isaac Okoro and Devin Vassell.

Unless a big guard like Lamelo or Anthony Edwards is available... I'm sticking with Okoro & Vassell.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Agree.

Kinda hoping we can trade Luke to Phoenix for #10, select Okoro at 5 & Vassell at 10.

Wood
Sekou
Vassell
Okoro
Brown

Rose, Blake & Snell here as vets next year to school all those kids

Assume we sign Giles this off-season too - dude can play the 4/5

Wood 33 - Giles 15
Blake 28 - Sekou 20
Snell 20 - Vassell 23 - Sekou 5
Okoro 24 - Brown 24
Rose 24 - Bone 18 - Brown 6

10 man rotation and the kids get real minutes to develop. We'd suck and go into the 2021 Lotto.

Hall, King, Thomas and some random vet big man would fill out the roster.

MAN that exactly what I was thinking. I would actually watch games live next year if we got 2 good wings/big guards in this draft.

Its been hard seeing the Pistons behind the curve for so long on what actually wins games. Seeing them get those two would put the league on notice that there is some bball iq back in this organization.

I’m kind of hoping for a PG. Let Rose start and play like 20 mins, have the rookie come in and get a nice 20 min burn. Gives him the opportunity to learn from a real vet and not be rushed. Hayes or Halliburton look interesting.

I’d be scared of a lot of these forwards and Ball. I don’t think you could pay me to pick Wiseman.
