Smith would need to be included as well. Williams has a really bad contract at like 20 mil per. Which would be like both they're salaries in one player. But we would be a much better team getting rid of the two biggest chuckers in the league.

No interest in D-Will. If he was traded to Detroit, I would expect him to sleep walk through the seasons until his contract ran out. They can barely keep him motivated in Brooklyn.

Thats fine too. Hell even if he doesnt play worth a crap, Its still better than having two guys not playing worth a crap.

Cross posted in Trades & Transactions forum -

Boston trades #5, #18, Green, Bass
Boston gets #3 pick, Smith

Detroit trades #8, Smith
Detroit gets #18, Afflalo, Green, Bass

Orlando trades #3, Afflalo
Orlando gets #5, #8

Why for Boston? Improve top end draft position and Rondo/Smith connection

Why for Detroit? Resolve 4/5 logjam

Why for Orlando? Seeking a point, Smart or Exum are probably anvailable at 5. Trading down and moving Afflalo gets another high quality pick.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Magic would never do that trade. There is a zero percent chance Magic would consider this trade.

This is a good trade.

Magic and Pistons won't do it. That's a terrific trade for the Celtics though.

Boston officially has the 17th pick.

The reason it's good for Boston is the reason Orlando won't - the top-3 pick is the best piece by far.
It looked fair at first and, in a different draft it would be fair.

Don't worry, he'll have 48 more bad trades before the summer is over.

Smith for Asik must be a possibility...

LMA lit them up & surely they'd have to at least consider what Blake Griffin could do to them?

Yeah it's definitely a possibility. We'll need more than Asik if we're trying to receive equal value though. Maybe the Rockets should include a 1st rounder or a third team needs to get involved.

That sounds like a fair trade. Can we get creative and do a three-team trade and get more value?

Pistons get: Green, Houston's 1st rounder
Celtics get: Asik
Rockets get: Smith

Not downgrading anyone since we'd be signing Hawes or Aminu

Hawes is probably the better target due to his outside shooting.

True. Sorry about the reading mistake, my eyes were half-way open last night.

I would still question whether a defensive big would be a better fit next to Monroe. His defensive liabilities leaves us soft when he switches to the 5 position.

I would agree to that trade in a heart beat. Jeff Green is a very solid wing player.

I'll call Dumars and have him advise this trade.

I thought Asik did a fine job all things considered, most of the shots he contested were hands in the face and LMA still hit them like Dirk. The only bad thing is, Asik gets into foul trouble easily though. I can definitely see HOU being interested in Smith and also firing McHale or McFail as HOU fans call him now.

Smith is a better compliment to Howard than Asik is. In fact, I'd say they win that series if they had Josh (weird, I know).

Really though, the Rockets are going to have to look to upgrade either the PG spot or the 4 this off season. If we could somehow snag T-Jones in a trade for Josh, oh man.

DET OUT: Josh, Datome
DET IN: T Jones

HOU Out: Asik, Jones
HOU IN: Josh, Seraphin, Datome, WAS 2nd

WAS OUT: Seraphin, 2nd
WAS IN: Asik

That's a great trade for all involved. It solves problems for each team, and improves each team as well. Great trade, Combo.

Can we somehow get Lin so we can kill 2 birds with one stone (Jennings/Smith)? Lin played pretty good all things considered.

Laimbeer's trade looks good for us and Boston, but I can't see Orlando taking it. It's close.

ComboGuard's trade looks great. I agree that Smith would fit better in Houston. There was a lot of talk about Morey being against advanced stat cellar dwellers like Smith or Jennings, but I think he realized in the right situation, they can be assets. To make this trade, we might have to either add our own 2nd or trade 1sts with Houston, though.

I don't get why but it seems the Hawks will have some interest in Monroe,... will they do a S&T for Millsap? will you?
Millsap is a pretty good fit with Dre and got a good deal, but you need to get Smith out for sure if you get him.

Why would Detroit trade Smith for just a back-up 4? Come on Combo, you know better than that. 8-)

I just heard about that rumor too. Seems like a weird team that would have interest in Monroe. I'll still match anything Monroe's offered. It's unlikely we see anyone give Monroe the max anyway.

Hawks don't have much I want. Unless they would be willing to do a Teague+Korver+15th pick for Monroe+Jennings.

I would DEFINITELY S&T Moose for Millsap. I think PM would fit REALLY well with Dre -- well enough that we could resign him after next year (or is it two he has left?).

Of course, we'd definitely need to move Smith as well -- he won't come off the bench, he's too proud, and Millsap off the bench is a waste of a good player (and would prevent him from re-upping, I'm sure).
