He is just one very big reason as to why we suck.

I do agree with you, total lack of defense is absolutely killer. But watching Rip attempt to play the game of basketball is absolutely killer.

Rip did not have a good scoring night. But I remember a lot of games when the Pistons had trouble scoring and they would lock down on defense.
If they only put 60 points up, they made sure the other team didn't score over 58. This Pistons team is not going to beat elite teams with offense.

Ben Gordon (about the game) :
QUOTABLE II: "Derrick was really hot and it seemed like he could do whatever he wanted.''
--Detroit guard and former Bull Ben Gordon.

Plus if you look at the NBA boxscore +/- every Piston starter was a negative

Nobody is saying we shouldn't be playing defense. The two are not mutually exclusive. We both need to play better defense AND get rid of Rip in order to help our offense. We also need a defensive C to replace Ben, for Stuckey to develop into more a floor general, for JJ to get healthy and for Kuester to learn how to coach.

Non of that changes the fact that Rip is a major problem for us atm and he needs to go asap.

And btw - the days of holding teams below 80 pts is pretty much gone thanks to Stern. Not really fair to compare any team to the '04 Pistons since that was arguably the most dominant defensive team of all time and something we'll never see again.

Well my point is with or without Rip these Pistons need to play better defense. What if Rip is untradeable?

Rip doesn't have a PG.

Since Chauncey got traded, he's had to deal with Iverson, Stuckey and Bynum. NONE of them are true PG's.

Stuckey is a 2. Everyone knows it.

So that means he's out there being forced to do things he shouldn't do. Like setting up his teammates.

And who the hell said he's being selfish? The man only took 10 freaking shots. He's deferring to everyone else. And as far as I'm concerned, the guys he guarded (Bogans, Korver, Watson) barely did anything.

Rip isn't washed up and he isn't selfish. He just doesn't fit in with this team, mainly because there's no PG.

Getting rid of Rip is a major first step. It balances our roster and allows us to give minutes to players who deserve minutes. I personally think getting rid of both Rip and Tay would be even better to get rid of that 2004 hangover.

Please, Rip has been making bad decisions. He's been shooting contested shots and is not looking to make the extra pass. Stuckey has done a better job in getting players involved, but Tay and Rip aren't returning the favor unless they're passing to eachother.

C'mon man, the shots he missed yesterday were open. He didn't force anything. And he only took 10 shots. Since when is someone considered selfish when they take 10 shots?

Rip was making terrible passes and was letting plays over develop. He was pretty much ignoring anybody not named Tayshaun out there. He's not good at creating off the dribble yet he thinks he should...

Taking a lot of shots isn't the only way to be selfish. He's dominating the ball and making poor decisions. Nobody is forcing him to try and do too much. Blaming it on other players and the situation is a major cop out.

The ball and our offense move MUCH better when Rip is not in the game. And Stuckey isn't any more of a pure PG with Rip on the bench. Time for people to stop making excuses for him.

That's cold....after all Rip has done for this organization have the decency to trade him to a contender. Damn Rip was the Pistons best scorer 2003-2008.

Nah that's actually not cold. I'd put in the Clippers and Raptors in there too. It seems like the FO of their teams are dumber than ever. Who the hell starts Darko? Who gives Bargnani that much money. He's basically a taller CV. The Clippers just have bad luck and I hope they make the playoffs this season. But it still doesn't change the fact that they suck at making moves.
