From mlive:

"A late-night remark Tuesday by Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott, about Smith, got lost in the shuffle amid Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy's criticisms of his team: "We gave Josh a lot of looks. That was the game plan," Scott said. Scott is the second Western Conference coach, along with Denver's Brian Shaw, to acknowledge their defenses plotted to leave Smith open."

What kind of mind control does it take to give the most minutes and the most shots to a guy who the other teams actually plan to let shoot because they understand that he wastes possessions and is overconfident?
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

I dont know but right now Josh Smith may just lead us into a top 3 pick, so just let him do his thing.

I 100% agree, I'm hoping for Emmanuel Mudiay!

So, in some people's minds, the guy who teams want to shoot is better than the guy teams don't want to shoot.

Got it.

Smith for Patterson and expiring contracts from the Raptors... you guys do it?

Smith is bad in Detroit, because the rest of the team is crap... there's no one that can score on the perimeter with consistency, so Smith feels like he should do it himself.

This type of trade would give Detroit a better fit in Patterson, and give them cap space to build with in the future... it would also legitimize the Piston tank, because this is obviously a lost season for you guys.

I would do it without thinking twice.

Patterson`s contract has 12 mil / 2 years left after this season, I think that is a reasonable deal.

That question should be "would the Raptors do this?" Patterson+Fields works cap-wise .. and I think every Pistons fan would do it.

You're right, I personally think he'd work great in Sacramento or Charlotte. I didn't think of Toronto, but at least he'd be behind your backcourt in the pecking order. He definitely doesn't fit here with our players. The thing is, do you feel like taking the risk? Your team has chemistry and got off to a hot start. Do you not feel comfortable with the Raptors, like you don't think they can continue to improve/grow/build? Do you think this move would really improve your team?
