We didn't stretch Mc Gruder, according to James Edwards III on Twitter.

Positives? Ummm? I'll try....

The draft strategy seemed to be performed with the long view. Whereas free agency has clearly strategized the short view. Maybe Weaver felt compelled to give a 63 year old Dwane Casey one last "puncher's chance" at making a playoff run. If/when that inevitably fails, next summer Weaver can look Dwane in the eye and say well we aren't getting the results to make it worthwhile to continue down this path. Thus relieving Casey of his duties, so Weaver can go out and find his own coach to spearhead a proper rebuild while already having 3 young pieces that were drafted the year before.

Yeah... I got nothing legitimate. At least I tried.

I'm still thinking, it's irrelevant, but if it's for the minimum it's a good one. We got Josh Jackson. There. We did 2 good things out of 40 moves.

I don't think Snell and Drummond gone is positive. Drummond being dumped last season resulted in cap space, and the result of the cap space was a disaster. Snell gone resulted in 5 years of dead cap space after we stretched Dedmon. I'd rather have Drummond and Snell.

Yes I was confused about that too. I saw some places saying McGruder was waived and stretched.

Well, we have our SG right there then. Thats a positive. 8-) 8-)

Seems like that would be too many guys on the roster though.

1. Very happy with the draft
2. While i'm not a fan of the grant and plumelee deals at all, at least they are relatively short deals that are tradeable down the line.
3. We look pretty poised to suck.

I'd be pretty happy if we fired Casey too, since he is a bit of a stickler when it comes to young players. But I can't see that happening atm.

Can see Stewart knock down a couple 3's and Hayes with those side step and step backs to create space (Beast)

It's over. Right? Right?!?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Oh, I have a feeling a big, fat, turd is on the way, hand delivered by the cap fairy.

Prepare yourself. There is one more move on the way, I'm sure of it.

Lmfao it's like I really want there to be more and somehow for all of this to make sense. But if he makes another questionable move Gores seriously needs to just fire him lmao

After further ponderment, I actually thought of a real honest to goodness positive to post in here.

Detroit managed to get something for Luke Kennard, before some team pulls a Troy Weaver and throws $20 mil/season at him next summer. Thus eliminating the conundrum of overpaying him, or letting him walk for nothing.

Detroit still has the room exception at their disposal. So can offer 2 years/$10 mil to someone.

Biggest general positive, even with all the potentially misused money:

I'm quite interested to watch this team play. Been a while since I've thought that.

31 days until NBA!

At least my gym is still open! And no one goes so its even better! Big screen tvs, deadlifts, Pistons!

I think this team is going to be really fun to watch and Casey might have a heart attack on the sidelines screaming at people.

I think Grant is going to look pretty good. My guess is they play him at the 3.

Drose/Hayes
Wright/ Svi
Grant/Bey
Griffin/Sekou
Plumlee/Stewart

Get that second unit out there with Hayes, Svi, Bey, Sekou and Stewart will be wild! :D :D :D

We rolling into the new season with only 4 holdovers from last season and that could change before the season

So it's like watching a whole new team

I think you may be correct, but SVI in the starting lineup as his shooting will really be needed there and Wright in the second unit with his ability to handle the ball some to take some of the pressure off Hayes until Hayes gets fully accustomed to running the show.

The young guys are going to be even less ready than normal with no summer league and a short camp and half a pre-season.

I'm excited to see what the closing minutes 5 look like.

I assume Plumlee has to be off the floor at the end of the game. Griffin to the 5?

Drose
Svi
?? Bey, Sekou
Grant
Griffin

That has a lot of firepower but DRose and Griffin both want the ball in their hands constantly.

Er, one positive I guess is the play in tournament for 8/9/10th seeds.

Gores wild push to make the playoffs at all costs now means he may be satisfied with a 10th seed team, and with the new draft lottery odds, we would still have a decent chance to getting a top pick in that scenario.
