The only way we get Sabonis is if its a 3 team team with OKC, and Indiana gets our pick and we remove all protection from it. Other than that it will take Cade.

I don't think Grant, Bey, Hayes, Stewart get us Sabonis.

I'm still unsure if a deal between central division teams would be plausible, but the Pacers are selling, and Sabonis would be ideal to pair with Cade, but I don't think it could get done unless you give up a big fat first round pick.

Turner is also intriguing as he's a shot blocking monster, but I'm unsure of his hops to be honest. I thought he was a little more ground-bound?
If you were Indiana would you trade Sabonis for Grant?

Pacers are going to tank, they want the same kind of talent Pistons want. They arent trade partners.

Sabonis to GSW for unprotected picks and Kuminga/Moody.
Sabonis to Bulls for Patrick Williams and picks plus filler.

Pistons dont have anything of value honestly other than Cade.

Straight-up? Absolutely not, and I've eluded to that several times. It's going to be painful as hell to land Sabonis, if the Pistons really want him.

Grant is just the point of entry.

I feel starting a team with Cade and Sabonis is worth it though.(depending on total cost of course)

How does Levert fit next to Cade? He's a form U of M Wolverine who is also a Michigan native. He's 27 so he's the same age as Grant. I think the only real way something works would be a 3 way trade with Kelly O going to a team that wants a vet stretch big.

If Pacers are wanting to blow it up rather than reshuffle for a better roster fit, Grant probably doesn't make sense for them. There's also the possibility of a three-teamer where we trade Grant to a contender, they trade assets to Indiana, and Indiana trades us one of their big men, but most contenders that'd make sense would probably prefer to go after Turner or Sabonis themselves.

Maybe there's a third team that makes sense and that has the capital for both Grant AND one of the Indiana big men and Indiana would swing us the other big man for going in on the deal with them.

Honestly, though, I'm fine riding with what we have. I think having Grant around to share the main offensive load with Cade is good for Cade's development and the team as a whole. I'm not in a rush to move on from Grant, and I clearly think he's a lot closer as an asset to Sabonis than most of y'all.

I would do Turner for Grant even if the Pistons would likely be even worse this year. Right now, everything is about Cade, and he's such a better fit for Cade - athletic, rim runner, shot blocker, and quite frankly, he's not being featured in Indiana the way he would be here. Plus, that would allow Stew to play the four, his natural position where he can work on his game more effectively for the NBA.

Pistons suck for a lot of reasons, but Cade, Killian, Bey, Beef Stew and Turner would end the rebound deficit every night and wretched iso ball that slows the offense down too much.

Bulls fan chiming in. Do you think the Pistons will really trade for a current all-star type player? It seems like they'd want to tank one more year at least. There's some serious top end talent in this draft. I feel like trading Grant for prospects/picks is the way to go.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I still think a Grant trade with Patrick Williams as the main piece makes sense. Stealth tank since he is out a large part of the year, but also get back a high ceiling, 4th pick. Can hit 3s and has a high ceiling defensively. He'd be a good fit around Jabari Smith/Paolo/Chet in the future.

That's what I want a pick and/or a prospect. We need move high end young talent. Right now we only have Cade.

I'm definitely with you.

As some posters here are suggesting, they'd trade Grant plus our other second year players, if that was required, to get Sabonis (hypothetically). Thus the team would be basically starting from scratch again with Cade, Sabonis and whatever is left over. I'd feel more secure about the team's future with Cade and our second year players plus a pick/young prospect for Grant than Cade, Sabonis (or similar All Star-level player) and nothing else. I don't have a belief that the unknown is always better.

Pacers have Sabonis, Turner, Brogdan and Levert yet still suck!

Apparently Sabonis + Cade + a bunch of random players to be named later somehow = contender ?

Gotta love that line of thinking cause it means that the next big move is THE move to bring you everything you ever wanted

Talent alone doesn't make a team. Fit is just as important as talent, IMO. Which is why two players can both be talented, but not a good fit (like Cade and Killian).

I'm all for selling high on Grant, because I don't see him in the long term plans for the Pistons and I think he doesn't like the idea of deferring to Cade late in games. But I wouldn't sell the farm for any one player.

I much rather have traded for Bagley while he was benched for cheap than to sell half our team for Sabonis.

I like Pat Williams as a prospect, but I think there's a real danger in gutting your team of any starter-quality veterans. We can already see how it's frustrating Cade's development that he works to create looks for his teammates and they're not knocking down the shots (or worse, not taking them, like with Bey). I think you need a certain level of reliable talent for the young guys to build off of and learn from, so I'd be really worried about trading away Grant and not getting a starter-level vet in return.

I agree with this. The cupboard is already bare, but it could actually be worse. At this point you couldn't pay me to watch Pistons faithfully. I can only imagine what Cade is experiencing every day, and if Grant is gone without a positive return...I mean, uh, a thirty game losing streak? Brutal.

Not saying I want to do this trade but we would still have our lottery pick this summer and max cap space this summer to add Beal/Lavine :P (dreaming I know but still have cap space to add a player or two)
Either way we're good imo. Trade or keep we are set up to go up from here

Which touches on the idea of trading Grant for the sake of trading him, i.e. he's not a good fit with Cade. As I've posted before, who says he can't be? THEY'VE PLAYED 18 GAMES TOGETHER. Chill.

Yeah I would only make trades for clear upgrades at this point. I think the five starters can all play really well with each other when they’re all on their game.
