Re: Around the League
Odd start to the year.
The teams that were PROJECTED to be better than us this year in the east (Hawks, Magic, Cavs) sit below us in the standings. 3 other teams (Philly, Chicago, Milwaukee) are tied or ahead of us.
Very very early. One wonders which of these trends is real and which is a mirage.

The Bulls were really strong to finish the season last year. Central division likely going to be the best in the NBA with a chance of all 5 teams being above .500 next year once Haliburton comes back..... assuming Giannis stays.
Philly is the biggest wild card in the East IMO but right now Embiid is their 5th leading scorer at 17.3 PPG with Maxey on top at 33.7 and they haven't even played Paul George yet. The four guys ahead of Embiid (also including Quentin Grimes and Kelly Oubre) are all shooting 41+% from deep which probably isn't sustainable all season but if they keep making threes and aren't entirely reliant on Embiid they will for sure be a playoff team this year.

Re: Around the League
Knicks currently the #2 seed with 7 wins, Brunson likely out for a while with a grade #1 sprained ankle.
Celtics currently the #11 seed with 6 wins... Crazy that only 1 win different separates the #2 and #11 seeds in the East. Six teams have 7 wins and three teams have 6 wins right now.

that's gotta hurt getting demoted when you went to sacramento specifically for a starting role... and replaced by a guy on a vet min contract.

Re: Around the League
Sad for Dennis. He seems to be a real leader in Germany, but struggles with that role here, Second language maybe, or his slightly unusual personality. Not a bad guy, per se, just a little strange.

$33 million guaranteed - Dennis will be fine. Daniss wishes him well.

Daniss is our younger Dennis, it’s been a really fun year so far.

It’s going to be crazy when everything is finally out. I do realize this could be fake, but I honestly doubt it

So Harris or Fultz, then. That would be something.

Most likely. The crazy thing is that you’ve got to think it’s not just the NBA at this point

Re: Around the League
Pistons now tied with the Spurs for 4th best point differential in the NBA… waaaaay behind the three Western juggernauts that are generally murdering everyone.

So Wemby's already injured this season.
I'm not sold on his durability.

Always a concern with anybody that tall. Him & Chet will both be curious studies as their careers develop. If you get 65+ games and can be healthy in the post-season that's a win.breezypeezy wrote:So Wemby's already injured this season.

Re: Around the League
Yep. It's why I pushed back when someone last year said that Ausar would never have a shot at DPOY because of Wemby. Just can't count on Wemby consistently playing 65 games every year.

To be fair Ausar has yet to play 65 games either and has already missed meaningful time this season.
