A true Pistons fan wouldn't become a fan of another team because Josh Smith of all people signed there. The Pistons as a team will become more stable in Josh Smith's absence. That's something true Pistons fans want.

For the sake of my own sanity I swore off posting here but once I heard this news I just couldn't help myself.

I've posted about wanting this to happen for so long now. Nice to see the front office making a decision that is best for the Pistons basketball team - regardless of financial impact or job security.

I expected there to be a full blown debate on this but I don't see the normal Smith defenders anywhere. Did they stop posting or something? (I've been away awhile)

Neptune is the last of this Smith-mohicans. Everyone else spews nothing but bile at him.

I can't wait to see Smith aggravating a whole new fan base!

BOOM! SVG drops the hammer!

If anyone was starting to doubt him already this should be a clear indication of his power within the organization!

@Manocad, I said the Rockets would become my second favorite team not first. You don't think Harden, Smith, and Howard would be a nice big 3? Come on, let's be serious.

Fellas it has been awhile to say the least. And the dumpster fire that this team is has certainly not inspired me to come around more often. But I love the move today. Stan has to start taking out the trash and it starts with Josh (and hopefully Jennings soon to follow). We need to get back to what made is team great...teamwork, defense, smart play. Josh didn't fit and this should send the message that no one is safe. I love it.

It is going to be a long process in cleaning up Joes mess, but a promising move here

Should not have done the stretch provision. I'd rather have Smith of the books when Drummond is 23 than when he turns 26.

Besides that good move.

@ImHeisenberg, I'm usually with the minority crowd here. At least you guys know whenever I have time to post I'll give my honest opinion.

I couldn't care less. I'm not from Houston and didn't grow up following the Rockets. There is no player change that would lead me to become a fan of a second NBA team. There are other NBA teams that I respect, but I'm not a fan.

2 of those guys are terrible defenders so I don't think it would be to great.

Smith has never and never will be apart of a "Big 3". That term is used too loosely these days because people don't know the players involved at least should be top 10 at their positions to be considered such.

I usually end up following teams that acquire Piston players. I've recently found myself watching the Bucks and Mavs play(even though Charles V gets no PT) and a couple of years ago I found myself watching the Nuggets. That's just the type of person I am.

Like most of you, I'm absolutely overjoyed. I guess my only gripe would be I would've preferred that they just sat him until the trade deadline instead just in case a team changed their minds. Perhaps it was all about sending a message to those left on the roster. Shape up, or get shipped out. I wish I could buy all of you a celebratory drink. This is a step forward to a much brighter future.

Funny enough, I feel like it was a sign last night. As soon as our game last night was over, ESPN showed the Bad Boys 30 for 30 documentary.

Well they "should be" top 10 at there position, that's true. But some people look at it as "3 big name players" or "3 best players on there squad".

People shorten every thing up now, it pissed me off when I picked my son up from school and I heard someone say "kinder" for kindergarten. :nonono:

Thank you... oh my god thank you SVG.

Get rid of Jennings and Monroe and maybe I can stop hating this team and watch them play again.

In any case, Josh Smith is no longer the Pistons' problem anymore. And I'm very thankful for that and don't give a hoot where he winds up. He never wanted to play the right way so good riddance to him.
