This is so true. KCP also has similar mentality.

Can't wait for the season to begin.

I like KCP too. Will be interesting to see if he continues to develop and if Jodie can be that solid backup.

So true, we need a nickname for them. Don't forget kcp, many felt we reached.

For what it's worth, Jalen Rose said the Knicks were going to offer Reggie 4 years/max

I think the context was mistaken. Jalen & Jacoby were talking about moves on their podcast, Jacoby said something to the affect of the Pistons bidding against themselves, Jalen said that wasn't true and he knew the Knicks were in the game for Reggie.

Just thought it would provide a little bit of comfort to people who thought the Pistons were bidding against themselves.

If the Pistons let Reggie go to the market he would have gotten multiple max offers in my opinion. The Knicks were rumored to be interested ever since we traded for him. Billy King offered Brook Lopez for him in February. The Pacers were reportedly close to a trade at the same time and were really mad when OKC went with our offer instead. Then they opted for Ellis in FA.

I wouldnt have been surprised if all three of those teams pursued him in FA with big money offers. The funny thing is when Reggie ultimately resigned with us, the national narrative would have been Pistons Win Jackson Sweepstakes and all positive press, but because we just signed him privately for the same price it was Pistons overpaid lol

This will sound homer-ish.. But even when we traded for him I liked him more than Dragic.. Guess we'll see this season.

Dragic has had better numbers the past few years (of which Reggie wasn't starting), so I think Dragic is a safer bet, but Reggie had better numbers with the Pistons than Dragic with the Heat last year. And he's younger. So I don't think it's that homerish

Dragic fits better for Miami (trying to squeeze one more title out of Wade/Bosh/Deng) while Reggie fits better for us (older than Drummond/KCP/Johnson but not by a whole lot, still has plenty to prove in the league). Reggie will be in his final year of this deal by the time he's Dragic's current age.

It really does feel like that with them.

Reggie/KCP/Stanimal/Drummond have that going to work, blue collar, Detroit vs. everybody attitude and feel to them. I love it. There might be individual players that are more talented, but I'm really embracing the core that SVG has built here. It feels familiar. it feels like Detroit Pistons basketball.

Reason to be excited for Reggie being our PGOTF?

After he got traded to us, his passing/assist numbers were among the league's best. His 'assist efficiency', which is a stat I just created, was fourth highest in the league. This is the amount of assists per game the player had, divided by the amount of times a player passed the ball and the recipient took a shot (ie a possible assist). This means that Reggie is finding players in good position to make shots. He was sixth is 'secondary assists' as well.

The most impressive though is that he was fourth in 'points created by game', behind Paul, wall and Lawson. Wall and Lawson played about 3 minutes more a game than Jackson, so Reggie was actually second in the league at 'points created by 48 minutes', only behind Chris paul.

He is pretty much the prototype for the offense SVG runs, and I'm excited as hell.

Am I completely crazy, or did you join this forum a couple years back because you were a Brandon Jennings fan? I like your posts, whitehops, but I figured you'd be off to Jennings' next team once he's dealt, and I never thought I'd hear you sound excited about Reggie taking over the PG spot.

Or am I confusing you with someone else?

I just read this and I was like, "No, couldn't be Whitehops. That sounds more like a Neptune or a Jodi thing. But then I went down to the cellar and dug through the archives, unearthing this dusty old message from seasons yore:

whitehops wrote:I should introduce myself...

you guys not only have Jennings now, but I have been following Jennings avidly since he was in high school so naturally i'm going to follow the pistons. expect to see me in here more often!

PS I have a confession... I didn't watch one pistons game from last year. do I count as the first bandwagon fan if this Jennings and smith 'experiment' works out? :P

Hah, I knew it!

Whitehops, if you're going to stay and support Reggie, I think you should add the Pistons logo to your teams.

This is why I'll never post a picture on a forum.

Whitehops is a very good poster, hope he sticks around if Jennings is moved.

haha you guys are hilarious.

it's true i only started to follow the pistons because jennings came here but i've grown attached to the team, from SVG and management to the players.

this happened with me and the vikings too, i got into football because i loved watching adrian peterson but i slowly became more and more attached to the team, not just AP.

sorry guys, i'm here to stay :P
