Re: Pistons related Free Agency Thread
Is it possible to both absorb Malik Monk in a S&T and acquire Duncan Robinson?
If so, I wonder where that leaves Fontecchio (and Holland).
PG: Cunningham/LeVert/Sasser
SG: Ivey/Monk/Lanier
SF: Thompson/Holland/Robinson
PF: Harris/Fontecchio/Klintman
C: Duren/Stewart/Reed

Do we really want to pay Robinson after paying Monk and Levert? Seems to me it’s either Monk or Robinson.

Unless there’s a trade coming (Holland, Ivey, Thompson) I would agree with you. That’s a logjam.

If lavert is a done deal, there's no point going for monk.
We need some forward depth. Ivey, lavert, sasser, Ron can cover the guard rotation

Re: Pistons related Free Agency Thread
I think Monk is a bit redundant, he's not going to replace the shooting of Beasley and his contract clogs up the cap and hurts flexibility going forward. Just add Duncan Robinson, he can still gun it from deep.

Re: Pistons related Free Agency Thread
if Monk's not coming, who's gonna play backup PG? who's replacing Dennis? I don't think Sasser is ready to contribute.

Monk isn't a PG, they'd still have that need if they brought him in and no cap flexbility.
This would just be a desperation move by Langdon to replace Beasley's scoring and not one I'd be on board with

Re: Pistons related Free Agency Thread
If you look at our 10 man rotation last year to this year...
C: Duren / Stew
F : Harris / Font
F: THJ(out) Ausar / Duncan
G: Ivey / Holland
G: Cade / LeVert Beasley(out)
Essentially swapping out THJ for Duncan Robinson and Beasley for LeVert.
Then I think its kind of a battle between Sasser and Font for that 10th spot in the rotation.
Starting to feel more and more like TL will end up getting a deal done for Duncan Robinson.

LeVert is not a point guard. switch him with Monk's position.

Last season 53% of his minutes played were at PG position. both him and Dennis are pretty similar players. I'm way more confident with him replacing Dennis.

I just don’t think Monk is that great of a fit or need at this point.
He’s still owed 60 mil as well

For me to take Monk they'd have to take on Font as well and give us draft compensation (at least a few 2nds).
I'd rather just not make it a S&T and let them use their MLE on Schroeder. If we didn't sign LeVert I could see a use/need for Monk but that's not the case here. Monk and LeVert are both higher usage bench players. Monk is very much the worse defender. LeVert has been close to a league average defender his entire career (did his worst really the past few months so hopefully that isn't a sign of things to come at his age).

Monk makes no sense with the acquisition of Levert (who is a superior player). hopefully, it's part of a deal to attain Robinson to improve 3 pt shooting.

i'm pretty sure in sign and trades you can't add other players going out - it has to be just the player signing the new deal.

Re: Pistons related Free Agency Thread
Levert instead of thj is Not Bad....and monk is a good player but i would prefer somehow Grayson allen cause He is a far better shooter
As PF there are 2 options left in FA
Larry Nance Jr. - Veteran, good passer, good shooter
Bol Bol - big and when He gets time He is at least playable

If we didn't have to match MPJ's salary, I wouldn't mind trading with the Nets for a protected first-round pick, or two or three second-round picks. That way, they'd get multiple rounds for Cam, which is what they initially wanted. And MPJ fits like a glove in Detroit.
We could have easy plucked one of Brooklyn's 1st rd draft picks for cheap, Asa Newell. Dude would have been on a cheap contract and learned under Tobias.
We need to stop this foolish talk about trading for a star. Its too costly! Build through the draft and sign commentary pieces in free agency. TL should know this!!

Bucks are looking to be a problem next year.
Bucks, Magic, Hawks, Cavs all have made nice upgrades this off season.
