DaFan334 wrote:So you think Rip has the value of an expiring contract. Puff tough bro... Detroit was the one including a draft pick for the salary cap relief. Taking back Petro apparently nixed the deal, but don't act like ur gonna get a kings ransom for someone to take Rips horrible deal off you.

Yeah, I have to think that part of DET's role in this deal is to take Outlaw, and give DEN a veteran, expiring SF in Tayshaun. With that in mind, I can understand taking on Petro (on top of TrOut) being too much for their liking.

And pop is right, UNPROTECTED is probably why the Pistons rejected including their pick.

How about just SKIP Detroit? The Pistons are trying to dump contract bloat which helps neither NJ nor Denver.

WojYahooNBA
Detroit has leverage here, because Melo's agent is pushing Rip inclusion in bigger deal to NJ. Detroit may end up with a 1st out of deal.

WojYahooNBA
Nets no longer asking for Detroit 1st rounder and searching for another team to unload Petro on, sources say. Pistons want Murphy for Rip.

Enough said.

Come on people. We're on the cusp of unloading Rip's contract. This is supposed to be a happy time!

One thing I noticed...

People haven't said one thing about Murphy. Do you like him? Will he be good for us this season?

Wow I can't wait. I really want this trade to happen.

On Twitter -

@christomasson: Asked if this was his last Nuggets game, Melo said. "Not at all. Not at all. Not at all. Not at all.''

@christomasson: Melo just spoke to the media and said he won't get traded soon. Quotes coming soon.

He certainly helps fill a hole at PF with Jerebko out. Kind of like a less athletic, but better rebounding CV. He's not a long term solution to anything though.

I'm not sure how much stock I would put in these quotes. He just finished playing a game, presumably he's still in the Nugget's locker room. Not to mention he "hasn't" even said that he wants to be traded. All year long he's tried to separate himself from the rumors that he wants out, and tried not make himself look like the bad guy.

Especially considering that before the game, multiple people were saying that Melo was on board with signing the extension and the trade as we've been hearing about it, and "did not need any convincing."

Murphys a good rebounder, but in all honesty - does it matter if Murphy even plays??
We just want that big fat expiring and RIP on a contender.

Moving Max or Bynum with a big expiring for something useful would be great too.

I'm super excited for this to go down.
We finally clear up the SG problem - Billips and RIP reunite - And we can make a big play for a top FA this summer. And it's not even my birthday.

Please please please please happen....

I don't sleep on Troy Murphy. He is injury prone but he was a borderline allstar when he played for the Pacers, averaged 14points and 10 rebounds game. He is also a good 3 point shooter: almost 40% behind the arc

He also has good size (6'11") and he isn't THAT old at 30. I think he's more than just a 12mil expiring, and can possibly be our best big if he plays like he did last season or or other seasons he played for the Pacers

Yes, he may be our best big. But that isnt difficult

Rob Parker just said he thinks Rip may have played his last game as a Piston, and that he expects something to happen within the next few days.

I wouldnt put any stock in Melo's comments after a game. He's not going to come out and say he's been traded when he hasnt yet.

The latest report says the Nets and Nuggets dont need our 1st pick. The initial report said Joe wanted to do it, if he didnt have to give up a 1st pick. So it sounds like its going to happen now.

The only snag is apparantly Joe doesn't want Petro's contract, and I dont blame him. The Nets are looking for a 4th team to take it. In reality though, thats the type of contract that could be easily bought out by Gores, so I dont see it being a big dealbreaker if they dont find a 4th team.

This is getting exciting.

I don't think we're trading for Murphy, the player.

We're trading for the contract.

idk whats more exciting, the fact that were unloading Rips contract or that its to NJ in a Billups-Hamilto reunion and we get to watch them play together again one more time before they retire. hats going to be a fun team to watch. Chauncey and Rip never had a dominant low post scorer, 7 foot, 20-10 center. Or a superstar scorer at SF. It should be an interesting team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Murphy starting for us instead of Charlie in a few weeks.
