Re: Pistons WAIVE Josh Smith
Man I was the biggest Gores hater but he is starting to sway me. First with hiring Stan and now this. I was glad that they at least tried to work with Smith (if anyone was going to turn him into a player it would be SVG) but when it was obvious that wasn't going to happen he wrote the check and let Stan do what he needs to do.
I'm not sure about Jennings, but at least he is trying to do what SVG wants him to do so I think he will be around for a bit. It was obvious Smith wasn't buying in.

Piston should trade down with the Celtics and get more picks if they get a high pick. Too many needs and no real game changers #1-3

I am pretty ecstatic about this. I, like a lot of people, actually laughed out loud when I heard it. I will not miss Josh Smith in the absolute least.
You can argue all day that Smith should have been dealt to the Kings over the summer but the fact of the matter is that he didn't. Although it was clearly a mistake, this was the best option. Do people who are against this really think that if there was a trade option that had a better outcome for the team that Stan turned it down and opted to release him? They are going to be paying the guy for the next 5 years to be playing on a different team. This is the best thing for the Pistons right now and that is 100% fact.

Per news reports, there was 0 interest in smith, smith's play wasn't helping that. We are at a make or break point in the season. This move very well may have been a attempt to keep Dre, as his frustration has continually become more visible. Also i believe we'll be hearing reports of Smith and sVG clashing or last year him causing problems in the locker room. A waiver says a lot

That's my guess. Of course Van Gundy is going to be politically correct relative to what he says publicly about Smith, but I'd be willing to bet that critical mass may have been reached and it was "get this guy outta here right now" time.

And nope, no one is going to pick him off the waivers, only Philly got capspace and they are not going to be interested.
Yeah right. We are better off swallowing that deal. He literally destroys the culture and Morale makeup of the team.

Who swallows up Smith's minutes now, besides Monroe?

Another positive - we'll finally see TONY MITCHELL play some meaningful minutes! Forget about Jerebko, he and his achilles are gone after this season. I'm anxious to see if Mitchell actually has a clue on the court, because he looks asleep on the bench.....

Yeah I was looking at depth chart today trying to see who was going to benefit from the youth movement but they were the only names I could see.
Was hoping to scoop a speculative prospect off waivers for NBA Fantasy.

Highest usage player on the team with a 38% fg and contin to play selfish with bad shot selection, Our own fans booing him at games. Hes also carries the worse TS% in the league since hes joined us. And anyone who watches our games would have to have enough sense to think his tteammates cannot be too happy abouf it.
Hell if you want a link regarding it just look up "Josh Smith waived by Pistons". Nobody is just waiving a 54 mil contract for no reason. Everyone knows hes a cancer out there.

Been wondering why he hasn't got any burn; hoped the Mavs would snatch him in the draft last year

I'm not sure about him but people on the board said he suck when he was in the D-League.

As a point of reference the team is currently scoring 94.4... giving up 101.1

Yet another in a long list of draftees taken over the years on length and athleticism.
Definitely needed to improve his skills to make the jump and establish himself in the pros but you can't do that without being well coached and given the opportunity to play and make mistakes.

Re: Pistons WAIVE Josh Smith
Yeah screw Mitchell, Hes just a lazy player who trys to get by with his athleticism. I wouldnt even waste the minutes on him. I would try rotations at SF with Singler, KCP and JJ. At PF keep trying rotations of Monroe, JJ and whoever over Mitchell.

Re: Pistons WAIVE Josh Smith
How bad do you have to be to be just casually waived like that, like a D-leaguer?
"You're the highest paid player in franchise history, but we're going to pay you to go away, you knucklehead"
I'm still laughing about what happened today.
