I agree, i am rooting for 2012. With so many seconds though i grab a bunch of project foreigners and hope one hits (like Jonas).

If this deal goes through it would be huge for dumars image. we get a huge expiring and a small contract. im impressed that dumars ended up squeezing out a 2nd rounder as well.

I'm fine with the second round pick. It can be used in another trade, or for Joe to grab another all-star.

This is shaping up to be a hell of a trade for Detroit.

This is a good deal. Obviously would prefer not to take Petro but whatever.

GET IT DONE!

how would people feel about a follow up trade of Prince and Bynum for Harris and Balkman once the initial denver/nj/det trade is done???
Waive Balkman and we get to keep Summers and White and see if they can produce??
We move bynum and get a legitimate PG on a reasonable contract??

Thoughts??

Take on Petro for a 2nd is ugly, really ugly, i am not fan of that deal, i think if we wait some more we would trade Rip for an expiring this season.

I really don't understand why it is a big issue about Petro. Sure, you don't want to take on any salary, but it isn't that much for an end of bench big man. Most importantly, we move Rip, save a ton of money, get rid of SG logjam, and start the rebuilding process for real. Just pull the trigger Joe!

Im not a big fan of harris. im hoping we can use prince to dump maxiell or CV for expirings. i want to see the stuckey/BG back court finish the season with rip out of the way. if they play well then we keep them. if not then we trade them. also, i don't care if we waive summers. the dude is a black hole. i would like to see terrico play though.

I would do the trade without the second. Rip for Murphy and Petro is a good deal for us. The second rounder is just icing.

We're just going to go out and give another Chris Wilcox-like guy a couple million next year anyway to be our emergency big man. No reason not to let Petro be that guy. He may be making a million a year more than we would prefer, but we're still saving a ton by getting rid of Rip's contract.

Apparently the Detroit-New Jersey part of the deal is pretty much done, it's Denver that's holding up the trade now. I'd be perfectly fine with a Hamilton for Murphy, Petro, and 2nd trade as well. THe only thing that worries me is that Kuester would probably be dumb enough to let Murphy and/or Petro cut into Monroe's minutes this season, but maybe not.

He is a minimum salary scrub being paid 10 million in 3 seasons. His contract is absurd in my eyes. You would have over 8 million in Max and Petro for the foresee future and neither of them deserves any PT.

We could have a starter with that money. People are ok to take on Petro because it's not a 8 figures number but even if it's "only" 3-3.5 mil/year that salary is brutal for what he bring to the table.

Im not willing to take that gamble. petro's contract isn't even that bad. it would be nice to let NJ keep that 2nd in exchange for keeping petro as well but thats certainly not a deal breaker.

If Denver screws this up, while getting an insane return mind you, I will be beyond furious

Harris is too much like an older Stuckey to me. Can probably resign Stuckey for similar money, if not cheaper.

Totally agree.
Getting Petro isn't great, but moving Rip for an expiring is. IMO Murphy and Petro for Rip is reasonable. Getting anything else is just a bonas.

I hope this bloody deal goes through......

Yes it is THAT BAD, i guess people haven't seen Petro play. Go to NJ and Denver boards and ask about the guy, he is not NBA material and he is a 7 footer, teams are starving for defensive 7 footers and no one want the guy, not even the team who just gave him that insane contract.

Honestly? Their loss if they screw this up. They are the big winners if the deal goes down.

The Max and Petro point is valid here.
Personally the Petro inclusion isn't a deal breaker, but hopefully Joe can move Max and Bynum after this trade.
