Day dreaming, mostly. Sorry for the typo.

You gotta wonder why they took Stauskus when they just took McLemore last year and Vonleh and McDermot were still on the board.

I feel like Kings will call back wanting Smith as well eventually.

I wouldn't blink. That would be great value for Detroit. I wonder if McLemore is up for auction? He didn't exactly set the world on fire last season, so I can see why Sacramento is fine moving on from him.

Just before the NBA Draft, The Pistons nixed a trade proposal from the Sacramento Kings, that would of sent Jason Thompson and Derick Williams to Detroit for Josh Smith.

Now, after drafting Nik Stauskas with the 8th overall pick, it seems that the Kings are more willing to move last year’s first round pick in some type of trade.

ESPN’s Joe Kaiser believes that trade talks between the Kings and the Pistons might resurface with former Kansas guard Ben McLemore now being available.

http://pistonspalace.com/2014/06/29/tra ... osh-smith/

I didn't like the first proposal, but I'd do this deal for McLemore. We need to get a perimeter player with superstar potential to pair with Drummond, and with so few available, this would be hard to pass on.

I wonder if he was the Pistons target all along and that's why they nixed the original deal. Maybe they were playing hardball, and it prompted the Kings to take Stauskas to allow them to trade McLemore to us. :D

Mclemore and Thompson for Smith sounds good to me also, imagine having mclemore and kcp as our shooting guards of the future.

This is a good point. Them not taking a PF in the draft means they probably still have their sights set on Smith.

I did the trade checker and Smith for Thompson and Mclemore doesn't work, but Smith and Datome for Mclemore,Thompson and Derrick Williams does work.

This whole idea that McLemore is going to get a deal done is probably wishful thinking.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11130490/detroit-pistons-sacramento-kings-discussing-josh-smith-trade
Sources say that Smith being swapped in exchange for the combination of Sacramento's Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams is one trade construction that the teams have discussed. Although one source insisted Tuesday that no deal is imminent, another source told ESPN.com that the teams have continued to exchange proposals, with Williams potentially being replaced by another Kings player such as Jason Terry or Carl Landry.

The Kings want to get rid of 2 of their bad contracts not just one.

Maybe it would be Thompson, Williams and McLemore.

I'd even add KCP into the deal if necessary. Because if you're getting Mclemore, you don't need KCP anymore anyways.

This will make summer league more interesting now. Both teams will likely be featuring their sophmore SG and we can get a good look at each and which is progressing better.

Do you think either KCP or McLemore could get away with starting at SF? If not, then maybe KCP becomes expendable for a SF/PG trade :?
Too bad we can't get ahold of Stauskas instead! Lol

I wanted Benny Mac so bad in the draft last year, I'd lose my .... if we got him in a trade for Smith.

If we could pull that off, I'd probably look to do something like this immediately after. We'd probably ask for a pick or something as well, but it might be a good deal for both teams.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kt3u8qu

Only issue would be if they feel either KCP or Oladapio can play the 3. They tried Vic at the 1 last year so I doubt they go from that experiment to trying him at the 3, and I don't know if KCP can play heavy minutes there either. They could start Mo Harkless there though, and if they were Ok with KCP coming off the bench, then it wouldn't be an issue.

It'd give us a starting 1 for next season to replace Jennings, one that our new coach just happens to be familiar with. He also expires after next season so we'd still have our money for next year. Resign Moose to a fair deal (Or S&T...whatever) and we'd look like this.

Nelson/Siva/FA Signing(Beno Udrich is available..He'd be perfect for us)
Mclemore/FA signing
Harris/Singler
Monroe/Jonas/FA Signing
Drummound/Harrelson/FA Signing

We'd still have enough money to round out our bench.. Benny Mac, Harris, and Drummound would all be on rookie deals and Moose would have hopefully resigned for less than the Max. Nelson would be an 8 million expiring.

That's a playoff team in the east.

Pistons expected to pursue Ariza once FA starts. Also, Lakers expected to pursue Monroe if they don't get LeBron/Carmelo.

Now that they have Randle, I wonder if they would be willing use him as a trade chip to get Monroe? If Kobe has any say, I'm sure he would prefer the more experienced big man over a rookie. And for us, we basically get the same player on a rookie contract instead of max deal (and a more natural PF).

I'm sure Lakers would rather keep Randle and have both, but if they want Monroe they really have no other assets to offer. And if Lakers get Pau back as the article suggests, they may not need Randle. Monroe/Pau would be a nice tandem for them.

If they are unable to land Anthony or James, the Lakers are also expected to have a strong interest in Washington free-agent forward Trevor Ariza, Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, Detroit center Greg Monroe and Phoenix forward Channing Frye, according to sources.

Ariza, 29, was a key part of the Lakers 2009 NBA championship team, but left after the team chose to sign Ron Artest to a five-year deal following the season. The former UCLA star is coming off a career season with the Washington Wizards, in which he averaged 14.4 points and posted career highs in field goal percentage (45.6), 3-point percentage (40.7) and rebounds (6.2).

The Washington Post reported last month that the Wizards would like to re-sign him.

The Rockets, Mavericks, Pistons, Clippers and Suns are all expected to pursue Ariza once free agency opens on July 1, according to sources.

It would be sweet if we could get Ariza and Meeks thos offseason. Then hopefully trade Smith or get a good deal in a Monroe sign and trade, Hopefully one where we get back rookie deal players or draft picks.

I'd rather have KCP than McLemore at this point, so I hope that exchange isn't in the works as part of a Smith deal.

McLemore is the better athlete (by a little), and has the better shot (by a little), but the kid is dumb as a stump, man. KCP played better defense, I think, and he's smarter than a rock, too.

Why? His hands down best seasons came when he was on an expiring contract. That doesn't raise a massive red flag for you? On top of the fact that any deal he signs will go through him being in his 30's.

Ariza is fools gold. I guarantee it.
