Yes it is THAT BAD, i guess people haven't seen Petro play. Go to NJ and Denver boards and ask about the guy, he is not NBA material and he is a 7 footer, teams are starving for defensive 7 footers and no one want the guy, not even the team who just gave him that insane contract.

I understand he sucks. i don't think any pistons fans are even expecting him to play. his 3 or so million per year is not crippling at all. its chump change compared rip's. also, its about more than just money. rip is causing a lot of drama and rotation problems plus its not like were gonna compete any time soon so i don't really care about his production to be honest. we basically turn a 12.5mil contract into a 3mil contract plus we get a 2nd. sign me up please.

It's bad, when you look at similar "dump" deal (Maggs and Hedo this summer), the value is about right (big expiring and smaller, equal length deal). We'd be stupid not to accept, Rip is MUCH harder to move.

Thankfully, it seems Joe has realized it. But stupid Denver....

I've read rumors of a pick coming to us but not a report. I don't think we're getting a pick. I think we're just trading Rip and someone else for Murphy and Petro.

I think everyone said yes and now they're just waiting on Denver. If Denver doesn't do this, they are the biggest losers in the NBA. They must be crazy in not accepting Favors, 2 first rounds and role players. They're basically set and should be close to finishing their "rebuild" after the next Draft. On the other hand, I think they haven't said yes yet because they have a new FO and are just making sure they're doing the right thing. Nets instantly get a good chance to grab a good spot in the playoffs if they do this trade.

Maggs is not even close to be the player Rip is and Petro is not even close to be the player Bell is, also Bell have a 10000 times better contract than Petro.

The only difference is Murphy is a good player while Gadz is garbage.

No doubt if teh Nets do this trade thats more ping pong balls for us. What if this team goes on a big run after this trade? Murphy has been all but kicked off the Nets. He was sent home with flu like symptoms 3 weeks ago. I wonder if hes washed up or if he is a knuckle head or does he just need a fresh start. Seems kind of wierd that Avery Johnson doesnt like a 6'10" 3pt shooting PF or doesnt know how to use one.

If Murphy is healthy and hes not a cancer this pretty much spells the end of Monroes rookie yr. Those 2 will get extended mins once they learn the system. If Petro is as bad as Vege says then I expect him to take almost all of Monroes mins and become a starter soon. Murphy can rebound and he would maybe be the best 3pt shooter on the team. Since no Piston plays any defense he fits right at home.

I think it's Summers. He's going nowhere on this team. At least White has his athleticism to consider. All Summers does is chucks up shots left and right.

Man I really just want this deal to go thru... Would be horrible if we got this close to finally moving Rip and then we were Stuck with him if Denver backs out.

You know what, if DEN is relunctant to move Anthony I hope that the just go for Rip themselves. We know that inquired about him this summer, if Melo wants Rip and DEN is hesitant please just trade KMART for Hamilton and call it a day....

Agreed.

Trade them Hamilton and one of (Maxiell, Wilcox, CV, whoever they want) for Martin. We'll throw in whatever 2nd rounder they want. We'll even offer to take back JR or Balkman if they want.

^ i think he plays with the way this deal is going. how awkward would it be to hold him out a game and then have this deal fall apart? lol.

and the rip to denver idea wouldn't happen. i think the only reason melo would sign an extension with NJ is because they are moving to brooklyn. theres no way denver takes on rips contract with their financial situations. they are trying to dump salary.

Why don't we throw in Wilcox/McGrady/Bynum for Harris?

Make our part of the deal:

Rip
Wilcox
McGrady
Bynum

for

Murphy
Petro
Harris

I'm starting to think I would love to get Harris in this deal (in addition to Murphy/Petro, or just Murphy) in order to ship him off to Dallas or Portland for more pieces.
