TO BOSTON:
PF Josh Smith
SF/PF Jonas Jerebko
C Greg Monroe

Rondo / Bayless
Bradley / Crawford
Wallace / Smith
Smith / Sullinger
Monroe / Favarini / Olynyk

TO DETROIT:
PF Kris Humphries (expiring)
SF Jeff Green
SG MarShon Brooks

Jennings / Stuckey
KCP / Brooks
Green / Singler
KHump / Mitchell / CV
Drummond / Harrellson

They get frontcourt pieces to put around Rondo.....we get some cap relief and a SF. Maybe we then look to make a deal for Montejunas from Houston to put a stretch-4 next to Drummond.

Detroit wants nothing to do with Eric Gordons 3 more years at 14 mil plus contract nor trade Monroe/Jennings for Harrison Barnes and trash. C'mon, we are supposed to do homer trades here!

I do it.

Rondo is expected to return before the all-star game. Probably not a coincidence that they are getting him back just in time to showcase him for few weeks before the trade deadline.

Thats good news for Dumars if he's still interested in pursuing him.

I think Ainge is serious about not wanting to trade him.

He may have to wait until summer to get full value for Rondo anyway.

makes sense because monroe is a borderline all-star. in other words, not much of a scoop. (no offense to you, just chris chris mannix).

It wasn't meant to be a scoop, just pointing out that Monroe has more trade value than is being credited for based on some of these proposals in here. In other words we can probably do better than the Wilson Chandler roll player types.

The longer he waits though, the more teams will know he's getting desparate. If he really had no plans of trading Rondo, wouldn't he be working on an extension?

He doesn't have to trade him now, but if he waits, this time next year he will have to trade him to get something in return, or else Rondo will walk in FA. So might be best to do it early to have the most leverage.

Also have to keep in mind that the longer he waits, the shorter Rondo's contract becomes, and potentially interested teams may start to ge put off, worried that they are just renting him for a year, and then he will leave them with nothing too.

gotcha. once again, i think it's a better idea to fortify the bench with long-term, short-money contracts in exchange for big money guys. flexibility with the cap was key to building the most recent successful pistons team and even though the CBA has changed since then, i think it's going to continue to be key moving forward.

i also think that monroe being in the news is indicative of a key point that many in this thread seem to be ignoring, which is that the other third of the pistons' frontcourt logjam who is on the not andre drummond (josh smith) doesn't have much trade value at the moment due to his long-term contract. by dealing for monroe, other teams will be able to set the terms for their franchise player, unlike what they would do with smith.

That Smith for Gordon (w/an assist from the Celtics) trade is very good and something I hope Joe D would really explore.

Not saying I would do this, but it's very interesting.

You should try it on the main board.

I'm not a big fan of Green. Trading Monroe for him is a rip off to us in my opinion. Monroe is definatley the superior talent so I would ask for a 1st rounder along with Green.

I wouldn't call it a rip off, but I understand your value on Monroe given his size/youth advantage over Green.

Monroe's contract will have a huge factor on his value IMO. If he gets the max (which I have my doubts), then he's likely overpaid. However, if you can get him for $8-10, then that would increase his value. Or at the very least not hurt it.

You will never be able to get true value for any great player.

Cavs, Raptors, Lakers all got nothing when their stars left

Granted Monroe is not a superstar but you can never get back equal value in trades

The right time to trade Monroe was last season not this year after we signed another PF and our team is playing like crap.

Monroe's struggles aside, those two aforementioned factors drastically lowered Monroe's value to the point where Jeff Green actually sounds like a solid return. The entire league knows about how screwed up our lineup is.

Heck, even Barnes is too little of return for Monroe but the Warriors have no real reason to trade him to begin with so we cant ask for anything else if we did choose to trade with them.

Our best bet is to fire Dumars, trade Smith and possibly Jennings and start from scratch for real this time.

Dumars made this mess by trading away a 1st round pick in order to overpay a redundant player in Josh Smith. He also hired the worst possible coach for our team, AGAIN, screwing us over even further. Imagine if we had the Celtics coach, or Atlantas coach, or the Bobcats coach. These guys are doing awesome jobs with piss poor talent and joke rosters and Cheeks still cant figure out a fcukin line up for our team. UGHHHHH its maddening

Difference is those players had already played their second contracts and we're unrestricted.

Highly doubt Ainge trades any of his rookie bigs (Sullinger, Olynyk, Favarani) as they are valued by him higher than the rest of the league IMO.
