Yes. Gordon is insanely athletic and is probably better off guarding on the perimeter anyways.

The offense is definitely a question mark though. I think Biyombo was signed to start for them given Vogel's past preferences at center and he obviously give you nothing on that side of the ball. If Vucevic is kept he's a really nice scorer, but not someone who's going to carry the team. Ibaka is just okay offensively. He's not a plus player in that regard. I'm not sure what Gordon can do besides finish at the rim. Jeff Green is... Jeff Green. He will have his moments and then disappear for a long time.

Payton is intriguing. He can really get to the rim and break down a defense. Not much there in terms of shooting but if surrounded by guys who can do so he would be fine. Unfortunately for Orlando that's not the case. If Augustin plays they're in trouble anyways so not much more to say there. Fournier can shoot, and that's about all he does well, but he's not enough of an all-around scorer to carry an offense either. Hezonja will probably get a nice bump in minutes and I'm still really high on him but he's a big unknown. I would have liked to see him get a good chunk of time backing up both spots on the wing but with Green in for a year that's not going to happen this season.

Unless they're planning on winning games with scores in the 80's or low 90's I don't really see it. They're starting to consolidate the young talent they had, just not particularly well in my opinion. Dumping Harris for what amounted to basically nothing, unless you're counting Ilyasova as a integral piece to the Ibaka trade, is looking worse and worse every day.

they have nice versatility put ibaka center Gordon pf green SF. They might be good. I like Mario too. His swagger/cockiness I love. It's kinda like sj, but he has swagger like a mfer.

Off topic anyone want Winslow over sj

Payton kinda sucks he is useless on offense besides passing and i don't think he is that great at that. He is like a poormans Rubio. They should consider starting Augustin imo, at least he can give them a little more scoring punch at PG.

The drama Orlando have now with Vucevic:

No one else will want him!

He can't defend the perimeter. He can't protect the rim. He's an old school C - outta style!

And they can't really play Biyombo and Ibaka together for 30 minutes a game...you'd need more shooters to make that happen.

IMO the Magic are depending on Gordon taking the next step this season (I'll draft him early in fantasy leagues) because IF he becomes that nightmare match up at the 3/4 then you've got yourself the beginnings of a nice team...

But they're another Lotto pick away IMO.

Vuc/Biyombo/Ibaka
Ibaka/Gordon/Green
Gordon/Green/Mario
Fournier/Mario
Payton/DJ

Vuc the odd man out and I just don't see where they'll get value for him

(Avoid Vuc in fantasy leagues)

One of my favorite things is after the draft, free agency, and sumer league is to check out other teams boards, and see what fan base is so off it cracks me up. So far Orlando fan has been great. Just brilliant.

Ladies and gentlemen I present Knick fan;

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1462798&start=40#start_here

Now everyone knows certain fan bases are a little less knowledgeable then others, and there are some crazies that give "what?" Predictions but you gotta read that thread. It's overwhelmingly positive as in 2nd seed predictions flying all over.

Long live the champs of delusion, New York "the mecca of basketball" Knick fan.

Dear god.

Every fan base hopes in the summer. I suppose we're as guilty as anyone else. So hard to predict how an upcoming season will go. Knick's fans really place a great deal of hope in "Porzingod" and it's reasonable they be excited about his play. The plugging Rose in for big numbers is an act of faith. All in all it's a good thing or fan bases would dwindle quickly if fans didn't have somewhat unreasonable hopes.

I think we **** on most teams in the East this year. Been watching the Pistons long enough to see a mean streak when i see one. Our guys are very tough. Now we're a deep team. We are going to be hard to beat.

I hope you're right.
I agree with the mean streak observation. Morris seems as hungry as ever. Johnson is trying to kill people in summer league games. Kcp is a fighter. For the first time in a while I think we have a group that gets along really well but are also quite focused on building something. im really excited for the season. I can't wait. :D

I'm on the Orlando hype train or at least very interested to see how they do this season. First off, I think highly of Vogel as a coach. He consistently gets results despite occasionally wonky rosters (Hibbert an all-star under him, Lance Stephenson actually productive, etc). He's a defensive minded coach that still does well in the three jack city era and he has a lot of players with serious defensive potential.

If they start Biyombo with Payton, Fournier, Gordon and Ibaka it could be broken play city on offense but not as bad as people might think. One thing Biz does well is crash the glass and tap balls back out for 2nd chances and Orlando is young and athletic enough to capitalize off this in a way that might make up for sucking at conventional offense. The biggest concern is if they shoot well enough with Payton and Gordon to turn tap outs into easy open threes. I'm confident that Fournier, Ibaka and Hezonja will punish teams with knock-down shots created by Biyombo's glass crashing chaos though, are they enough? At least you know they'll be very stout defensively and actually good, not just on paper good like the Hornets' overrated defense. Also, if Payton can slash and set up Biyombo for easy buckets decently you can get a little offense out of Biz. Kemba sucked mightily at this but Lowry and Corey Joseph showed that Biz can actually catch some passes respectively.

I don't think they'll get HCA (too young still) but they should be a lock in the playoffs IMO.

To the Knicks fans credit though at least they don't go around hijacking threads about other teams. I can see why they have some optimism (though people putting them at like 2nd or 3rd are silly) A motivated Joakim Noah and Melo + Porzingis development could result in some success for sure, particularly because I am so high on Porzingis.

If we are as good as I hope we are this season I will probably have to spend less time on the GB. I don't think I can hold back all of the trash talk.

I can't think of a good player comparison for Simmons. I haven't seen a rookie passer this good since Rubio.

He's an exceptional passer but some people have lost their minds. There are people calling him the next Magic. Also there is a Knicks fan who thinks the Heat will be #2 in the East next season.

I don't know if my inner troll can handle all of these statements that would make Skip Bayless' opinions look tame.

Boston withdrew their qualifying offer to Jared Sullinger and they then renounced their rights to him. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Too funny. It's OK man, I got a little choked up too. The good ol days eh?
I'm hoping I'm lucky enough to get at least one more new title run like the Bad Boys and the Going to Work teams. I feel optimistic that Bowers and SVG will do it

If there were Pistons fans keen on Okafor then they should also have their ears pick up for Sullinger. Two players cut from the same cloth.

I actually really like Sullinger as a player. Extremely talented.

I just don't see any room for him on the Pistons. May be pick him up and use him in part of a trade down the road?

Frontcourt is full and we still need a dependable third PG and some consensus on what our backup SG situation should be. Maybe if we hadn't signed Boban we could sign and stash him.
Sullinger being suddenly and surprisingly available would be a blessing if we were to pull of an asset/talent consolidation trade involving Baynes, though.
