To be fair. I'd be malcontent too if I had to watch Trae Young chuck 30 footers and play LA fitness level defense every night. The Hawks have a lot of problems for sure, but you also have to take a hard look at Trae

Plenty of players have problem teammates. Collins's attitude problems are his own.

lol @ LA Fitness defense....

They could get someone for Trae who would fit better with Dejounte, who does it ALL.

Can't think of any teams would be willing to offer a haul for Trae though - he's incredibly flawed for a "star".

Seems like something the Knicks would do.

Bones Hyland + filler for Killian Hayes would be great for us and would fit what Denver is looking (size and defense)

Sadly we don't need more offense and less defense, but the talent upgrade would be massive for us.

Hyland is godawful defensively. Scoring more points but also giving up more points still means losses. I don't see swapping him for Hayes leading to more wins in any way whatsoever, all else being equal.

When the Knicks miss out this deadline and bow out early (in the playoffs or just not making the playoffs) I would bet on them going after Trae is he’s available

Now you want to trade Hayes? His improvement this year has been pretty big, he's looking like he could end up being a good player, maybe a better shooting Andre Miller type. Hate to trade him now, for a fringe prospect.

Collins contract is too much, and he's hurt a lot, it's almost like a worse Bagley situation, only he cost way more than Bagley and has an extra year I think.

Bagley - 2 years/27 million left, Collins - 3 years/80 million left.

So the Pistons were granted the disabled player exemption, and I'm left here wondering why? It has to be used by March 10th, this year. I am going to assume that this only happened because the Pistons asked for it.

Can this exemption be used as part of a trade? Is it used only to sign a player?

Why would the Pistons want this? Just because they can?

Edit*

All explained here;

Very interesting, and worth a read.

Good article. I'm still not clear on what the Pistons would want with it. If they're taking back a player on the final year of his contract as part of a trade, maybe?

I was first in line to trade Hayes before the season started. Now I think he’s a great 3rd guard and can play D. Once we start making it to the playoffs, we won’t go anywhere if we can’t play D. We are atrocious right now. As we are adding pieces, we need to keep that in mind. Also, not so sure if Casey knows anything about D.

Hawks are no longer asking for picks in a John Collins trade, they simply want a player or players that can help them win now.

Bagley + Noel for Collins might actually have a chance.

Not that I really want Collins taking up $25+ million of our cap space next year... so in reality we're probably better off with a hard pass on that IMO.

Yeah, now is not the time to be trading defense for offense. This team could use a couple of players who maybe can't score for beans but can defend like a mofo. Lord knows the team already has enough guys who can score like a mofo and can't defend for beans.

Pistons and Knicks have discussed a Bey trade, and we've obviously got a good working relationship with them as we've made a few trades earlier this season.

Bey for Reddish plus our future first round pick back?

Who says no?

Yes I would love to turn a negative impact player with 46% TS and 32% 3PT for a positive impact player with 56% TS and 38% 3PT. Hyland is a much better player than Hayes, the problem is, we don't need more offense, we need more defense.

Hayes improved a lot, I mean 46% is a lot more than 18%, doesn't mean he's a good player. He's still pretty bad, not all time bad anymore tho.

Seems like a fair trade. Bey has more value, but do we really want to pay him? Plus I think Livers is as good, if not better than Bey. Plus we don’t have to give Bey a big extension.

We don't have either. This team sucks on offense and defense

This team doesn’t have guys who can score but can’t play a lick of defense? Like Bojan, Bey, and Knox?
