NY says no. I don't see Williams swaying Melo into staying, if Melo leaves then you've traded an expiring contract for one of the worst contracts in the league with treadmilling as a best case scenario.

You might be right but I looked at it from the perspective of NY possibly being desperate to retain Melo and not really having to give up a core piece (not sure NY has a core) to get a 2nd banana. Plus they hate Felton in NY so they would be upgrading that area.

But again, this was BEFORE the surgery news, BEFORE I knew of Williams' trade kicker, and BEFORE we lost the pick. Now it's null and void in my eyes.

A lot has changed in a month.

I get the sense Phil isn't all that desperate to retain Melo. He's already gone public saying Melo should take a less than max deal to help a team build and Phil has a very nice contract so I doubt he's all that concerned about Dolan firing him. It wouldn't surprise me to see him willing to completely clear the deck and go after the upcoming Love/Durant/Irving type FAs.

I know, that's why I'm stressing that this line of thinking was from a month ago. I actually agree with you.

I was wondering the same thing but unsure if that question was allowed to be asked.

I think he was banned for being the softest Pistons fan ever. No, I think that's not legal, I'm just kidding.

Much like the Pistons themselves... looks like an accumulation of issues took it's toll, now back on topic...

How about this trade with Boston being rumored to want "win now" players instead of draft picks.

Boston Trades: Wallace, Green, one of Sillier or Olynick (sp) and #6 pick in the draft

Detroit trades: Smith, Jerebko, and Bynum

Detroit gets a high lotto pick. Sucks to take on Wallace but we get a high draft pick and a SF who is better than any on the team currently.

Boston reunites Smith and Rondo as well as dumps Wallace.

If only Ainge was desperate and or dumb enough. Smith wasn't viewed highly when he first hit FA, and he's even less so with his abhorrent season this year.

If we have to take Wallace the Celtics need to include Sullinger in the deal. Wallace, Green, Sullinger, 6th pick for Smith, Singler, 38th pick and Bynum. I don't think the Celtics would do it, but that's what I'll ask for if they want us to take Wallace.

Is he banned or suspended or did he walk away?

Cap room ~$13.7 mil

Waive Bynum & Jerebko on the stretch, bumps cap room up to ~$18.7

Trade 1:

Pistons in- Wilson Chandler, pick #25
Rockets in- 2 future Detroit 2nds
Nuggets in- Lin

Rockets dump Lin's deal, Nuggets move some longer term salary and add a solid backup point/free themselves up to shop Lawson, we add a wing and get back into the 1st - cap room ~$12 mil

Trade 2:

Pistons in- S&T Gordon Hayward (4 years / $38 mil)
Jazz in- Datome/Mitchell/pick 38

Jazz get incentive to not match a Hayward deal, we get a starting wing. - Cap Room ~$4 mil

FA - Patty Mills (3 years/$13 mil) & DeJuan Blair ($2.5 mil room)

Draft Kyle Anderson (or similar wing) #25

Jennings/Mills/Siva
Hayward/KCP
Chandler/Singler/Rookie (25 pick)
Monroe/Smith/Blair
Drummond/Harrellson

Too hopeful. Someone will get Parsons to sign an offer sheet well before the Rockets are done with their other dealings. Probably day 1 of free agency. In addition, if we do sign him, if we can't work out a deal, they'll just keep him and we'll have probably lost out on other free agents. And I don't think that we have the cap space to offer him enough to make the Rockets let him go for only a small return. Someone like the Cavs may get desperate and throw near-max at him, but we can't pull that off.

Plus, Parsons doesn't bring a lot on defense.
