I just don't like Brandon Jennings

Been watching the NBA since a toddler in the late 70s.

I have NEVER seen a starting PG in the NBA worse than Brandon Jennings (for so many reasons that have all been listed before).

He's so horrifying to watch, I literally could not much of last year. When he was on the court, I turned it off. The way he plays the game makes me nauseous.

IMO, his only real value is in the following limited situations: Your team is down by 20+ points in the 3rd quarter due to a lackluster effort. Nothing has worked thus far, and the game is essentially over. It's one of those nights. You throw Jennings out there and hope he influences the other team to turn it into a game of street ball. MAYBE he gets on one of his infrequent hot streaks and hits several of his off-balance threes to pull you back in the game. Then you take him out before his streakiness concludes...and see if your true talent can turn it into a win.

That's the only use I see for Brandon Jennings at the NBA level.

Except no, not really. Certain occupations require more visibility than others. Professional athletes, celebs, head coaches, CEOs, political leaders, and numerous other jobs are both well-paid and highly public.

Those folks can do whatever creepy, kinky, wacko crap they like behind closed doors (and many do, because they have the connections and the cash), but they have to keep it clamped down in public.

Jennings doesn't do a good job of keeping himself in check in public on a consistent basis. Yeah, he's basically just a kid, I get that, but he's still getting paid to represent his team. Some guys are slower to learn, and some guys never do. I have a bad feeling Jennings is one of the latter.

I am glad we brought in DJ Augustin. Yes, he has had struggles of his own, but he will definitely push Jennings for the starting job.

My dream role for Jennings is to become a poor mans Jamal Crawford. Bring him off the bench. If he is hot, then let him do his thing. If not, back to the bench. I know he has said on twitter that Crawford is his favorite player, so maybe he would be able to see the advantages of him becoming a 6th man.

I am also sipping on the Dinwiddie Kool-Aid very heavily. I see him being a starter by next season, so SVG will have to do something with Jennings or DJ at that point. Everything is going to be okay people.

I'm assuming he meant 2015-16 but that is also extremely optimistic considering he's never even played in summer league let alone a real NBA game.

Might be irrelevant to you. But I have a hard time being a fan of a player who sounds like an idiot at a post game press conference. I've never listened to him before, so he could be well spoken. I just mentioned it earlier as one of several criteria that people around here are known to appreciate.

That being said, listening to Derrick Rose a few times a couple years ago was enough to make me not like him. I'm not pretending he's an awful player or anything, I just don't like the guy. Kevin Durant is relatively well spoken, humble, and he's one of my favorite players in the league. Like-wise so was Derek Fisher, and for a name that I haven't heard in a while, so was Darvin Ham.

The thread was simply somebody claiming they "just don't like" him, and I don't really either. But for me, not liking a guy personally doesn't have to affect whether I like him for my team or not. It can, but it's not a given. I loved Darvin Ham, but I wasn't upset to see him leave the Pistons either.

Josh Smith, however, is a moron. Moose and Dre are reasonably bright. I'm a little worried about KCP in that regard, too -- not a hood, but definitely doesn't speak well.

After reading this thread a few times, I'd like to re-iterate that I don't like Brandon Jennings' game on the court, nor his personal opinion. I don't know him as a person, I'm not bashing his character.

Judging how he assesses the game of basketball, he kind-of failed the basketball IQ test, for a point guard to say the least. Again, this is my personal opinion, and I don't want anything to be taken as a general statement.

I don't see what there is to worry about KCP. Its unfair to judge someone their speaking skills after an unprivileged upbringing, and to top it off he has a stutter. What should be looked at is the fact that every minute he comes to the gym or is on the floor, he works his ass off.

I don't see what there is to worry about KCP. Its unfair to judge someone their speaking skills after an unprivileged upbringing, and to top it off he has a stutter. What should be looked at is the fact that every minute he comes to the gym or is on the floor, he works his ass off.

I don't believe it's fair to judge someone based on their level of articulation. Period. However, I do understand that some player interviews are cringe-worthy, simply because we generally have our own biases in terms of what to expect from other people when speaking. I don't believe it's fair to them or anyone for that matter, really.
