We’re gonna go to lineups of Sasser, Ivey, Lavert, and Ausar and just see who grabs the wheel

I said the same thing in that "Run it Back or Upgrade?" thread at the end of last season. Schroder should have been the priority, but it seems the F.O. prioritized Beasley. I remember comments from Schroder forecasting that Detroit wasn't making his re-signing a priority.

Below is a timeline of events of Detroit's off-season:

June 29, 2025: Word breaks that the U.S. District Attorney’s office is digging into Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley over alleged gambling tied to NBA games and prop bets, per ESPN sources.
June 30, 2025: NBA FA begins
June 30, 2025: Caris LeVert inks a two-year, $29 million deal with the Detroit Pistons.
July 1, 2025: Dennis Schroder lands a three-year, $45 million contract with the Sacramento Kings via a sign-and-trade from the Pistons.
July 1, 2025: Duncan Robinson heads to the Pistons on a three-year, $48 million sign-and-trade deal.

Hindsight 20/20, I'd rather sign Schroder/Robinson and call the off-season a success.

Think Dennis wanted to start, though. He’s very solid, no doubt, but when you can’t offer him more than 20 min a game tops (if that), not much you can do.

I know they want to get ivey some on ball looks, but we really should have a vet pg on the roster. It doesn't have to be anyone great, but we need to be able to execute an actual nba set if cade and/or ivey miss games or even just get in foul trouble. Daniss and Sasser aren't going to cut it.

I think this is going to be a theme we see early once the season starts properly. We'll be competent with Cade on the floor but the numbers will be horrific when he's on the bench. I'm hopeful that Ivey becomes something but I don't think he's up to the task of being a lead ballhandler when Cade is sitting, at least not yet. And I don't think LeVert or Ausar will be able to effectively run the offense.
