https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10063858-a-4-team-nba-trade-that-would-change-everything-at-the-deadline

Detroit Pistons Receive: Russell Westbrook, Zeke Nnaji, a 2028 first-round pick swap with the Denver Nuggets, a 2028 second-round pick from the Miami Heat and a 2029 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers

Detroit Pistons Lose: Bojan Bogdanović, Alec Burks and Marvin Bagley III

I see this awful trade proposal and all I can think is "Isiah Thomas is the only Piston who can be a Zeke".

We'd have $100+ million in cap space this summer if we traded Burks, Bojan and Bagley.

If we could turn that $100 million in cap space into Cam Johnson, Jerami Grant, and Porzingas it would be a good deal for us.

Cade / Scoot / Cam / Grant / Porzingas as starters and Hayes/Ivey/Bey/Stewart/Duren as a bench unit with Livers as the 11th man or he beats out Bey for backup SF.

After getting no where with a contract extension, Kyrie Irving requests trade from Nets and lets them know he won't resign with them if they don't trade him.

It'll be interesting to see where he goes, and how it impacts the trade deadline. Lakers make the most sense for a lot of reasons but I could also see him being the missing piece for a few teams. He's been playing great, even though a lot of baggage comes with him as well.

I keep obsessively harping on Ayton last year and mY new fascination seems to be Colins lol . I believe the way we are constructed and depending if we luck out and get Wemby, that we desperately need a SF. And opposite of that if we don't get Wemby and draft a SF type, we desperately need a big man.
So Piston fans....who we got? Let's get ourselves a target and make this shirt happen! Lol
Grant Williams

Not only would he be a stellar fit on both ends of the floor regardless of where our Draft pick falls but IF we sign him it's a big blow to the Celtics

So what are your thoughts on Grant playing the SF position? He is listed as, and usually plays the PF position. The Pistons, regardless of the term "position less basketball" still need a defender to play the bevy of guys at that position.

He doesn't seem fast enough to me to man that spot. Don't get me wrong, I really like his defense, and his 3p%, and ability to be in the right spot, but doesn't signing him still leave Bey, or Bojan to man that spot?

Edit* gonna add on to this with an article, that to me is disturbing.

"Recently, Bogdanovic himself revealed that Detroit told him he was part of their future plans, and that the team hopes to be “great” next season."

"But one league source went so far as asserting this week that the Pistons would refuse to surrender Bogdanović even if offered that fully unprotected future first-round pick that everyone says Detroit covets.”

https://pistonpowered.com/2023/02/02/nba-trade-rumors-sources-pistons/amp/

Weaver is going all in for next year apparently. I hope he's right, and the team is "great" next year, because of he does indeed turn down some unprotected picks for Bojan, in an attempt to win next season, oh boy.
I think Williams can defend the toughest forward assignment which leaves the lesser threat to Bey or Bojan.

There's not a ot of true 4s in the league anymore and while Williams might struggle defensively somewhat against uber athletic wings most players do.

Team D is more important than individual D and based on what I've seen Willians is a pretty good co-ordinator on that end of the floor

Assuming Kyrie gets moved that's likely the first domino

Kyrie really is the angel of death for contending teams- or at least it sure feels that way.

The Cavs aspirations effectively ended when he requested a trade from them. They made the finals after losing him but had NO chance.

The Celtics didn't start making meaningful progress towards the next level until they outright lost him in free agency (and reached the ECF when he was injured).

And now the Nets.

As for the Pistons, to me the only way anyone is still thinking that Bojan is being moved is if you literally don't believe anything you hear, regardless of source. The signals are all there that we're not.

Summer of cap space. Hayes and Bags for Big Ben Simmons. Who adds 2nd's or whatever?
Welp, we could do it now and add expirings. Brooklyn's coach really doesn't like Ben Simmons, I guess. Which means we should.

And wow at Kyrie. I just woke up from a nap for this. Those 2 LAL unprotected 1st's will fall. And all of their 2nd's should too imo.

Kyrie is either staying put or going to the Lakers. If he goes to the Lakers, Westbrook has to be involved to match salaries, although the Nets don't really need/want him. Which really brings up a 3rd team that has better assets to go to the Nets. So, with some minor tweaks to make sure salaries work...

Lakers Out: Westbrook, 2027 FRP, 2029 FRP
Lakers In: Kyrie

Nets Out: Kyrie
Nets In: 2027 FRP

Pistons Out: Bogdonovich, Burks, Noel
Pistons In: Westbrook, 2029 FRP

Between the Raptors players, Kyrie, and Utah players, I don't think we're going to get enough interest in our pieces to bother with a deal. Officially predicting we either stand pat or move Noel at most.

Kyrie can demand a trade, but there are not a lot of legit suitors. Who has $40M in players to flip back to the Nets? And it's either a short term rental or a $200M 4 year investment on the riskiest player in the league. Net's could just say f--- it and not do anything and let him walk this summer.

So if there is someone that is willing to do this, they will likely need some help. I guess if Lakers gave up both their 2027 and 2029 they might be able to get away with flipping Westbrook. But if Nets won't take Westbrook, then a 3rd team needs to get involved. Maybe us? Utah? Spurs?

Hope it's us. I like your trade idea earlier.
They don't want Westbrook in Brooklyn so we take him. With one of the Lakers picks. And Brooklyn can have Bojan Noel Burks Cojo :D with one of Lakers picks

Bojan, Burks, Bagley & Noel out.

Westbrook, Day'ron Sharpe and Lakers 2027 pick unprotected in

Bojan, Burks & Noel go to Brooklyn, Kyrie and Bagley go to the Lakers.

Claxton, Noel
KD, O'Neale, Morris, TJ
Bojan, Harris, Wantabe
Burks, Seth, Cam
Simmons, Mills, Sumner

Bryant, Bagley, Gabriel, Jones
AD, Rui, JTA,
LeBron, Reaves, Brown Jr
Bev, Walker, Christie
Kyrie, Schroder

Duren, Sharpe
Stewart, Knox
Bey, Livers
Ivey, McGruder
Westbrook, CoJo (Cade)

With the extra roster spots we grab some G League dudes to help the tank

Irving to LAL seemed obvious, but there have to be teams who could offer Brooklyn a better package for contending this year. Not saying they would offer it. LAL probably would offer as those two future 1st's aren't necessarily good anyways.

I would trade Kyrie to Toronto just to spite him. Salary filler and a 2nd. **** non-vaxed wack job.

Obviously it's a non-starter for Toronto... but I can dream.

First off, no.

So where’s the assets from Brooklyn?

I don’t want any part of that unless it’s literally just Burks/Noel to whatever team(s) for Joe Harris, Brooklyns ‘23 1st, and then a second round pick.

Joe takes over for Burks, just more expensive, and then we bring in a reclamation project big to try out for the remainder of the season.
And honestly I really wouldn’t want that.
