Surgery For Korver: Utah Jazz swingman and sharpshooter Kyle Korver will have surgery next Tuesday on his left knee in New York and will miss at least the first couple weeks of the 2009-10 season.

Korver has missed all but one preseason game and undergone multiple MRIs before seeking a second opinion today. He had been told the soreness would go away time and rest, but that hasn't happened yet. "We really told him, 'Look, this is frustrating to you, it's frustrating to us, we need you to go have this looked at by somebody else so you're more comfortable in your head where it's at,'" Jazz General Manager Kevin O'Connor told Ross Siler of the Salt Lake Tribune.

This news – added to the fact Matt Harpring likely will not play again and C.J. Miles is out another month after thumb surgery – likely means rookie free agent Wes Matthews has made the team. "I know this game, I know I can compete at this level," Matthews told Siler, "and keep working hard, playing defense and focusing on getting better and helping this team get as many wins as possible."Matthews, a 6-5 guard, has averaged 7.6 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.9 steals while also shooting 57% from three-point range in the preseason.
