Even better. A free "get out of jail card of Dumar's last mistake."

I'd assume SVG would be all over that. Hell, I'd throw in a 2nd rounder from us as a tip.

I agree that SVG wants a quality return for Smith. If not, he has no problem with rotating our big 3 and reestablishing Smith's value.

That might not be the sexiest or most appealing option to Piston fans, but it's probably for the best.

I agree with this. It also doesn't hurt that it looks like Monroe won't be seeing a max deal. Spending $30 mil between the 3 guys isn't bad at all and Drummond/Smith ensure we've always got a rim protector next to Moose.

With moose coming off the bench, he slides right into a backup center position and then when Dre comes back he slides over to PF.

Bynum and Datome for Andrew Nicholson?

The Magic have made some head-scratching moves this offseason, and they currently only have one PG on the roster, Payton. With the drafting of Air Gordon, (does anyone call him that?) the emergence of Tobias Harris, and the steady play of Kyle O'Quinn, perhaps we can take Nicholson off their hands.

This trade would open up a roster spot for Dinwiddie and give us a a potentially great 3rd big to eventually rotate with Drumroe.

This is the kind of roster tweaking I expect moving forward

Rumors are swirling that Philadelphia is willing to absorb Lin’s 14.89m contract (8.37m cap hit), I like Lin a lot better than Jennings and would hope the Pistons could see if they could get in on it.

Houston:
In: Expiring contracts
Out: Lin, 1st round draft pick
Why: They need expiring contracts to sign Melo and few owners want to pay Lin 'poison pill' contract.

Detroit:
In: Lin
Out: Jennings, 2nd round draft pick
Why: Upgrades the point guard position while maintaining about the same cap hit. Would require Gores to eat some additonal money.

76ers
In: Jennings, Hou 1st rd draft pick, Det 2rd round draft pick
Out: Expiring
Why: Receives draft picks for absorbing an 8 mill contract. Jennings has less of a chance to hurt the tank as Lin. Owner doesn’t have to shell out nearly 15 mill contract for one first round pick.

The thing is, I think HOU will want to get a 1st rounder (heavily protected) for Lin since they just got one in Asik. But I can see your scenario happening too since Lin is a dime a dozen whereas Asik is a legit rim protector which aren't a dime a dozen.

^Houston will package that Pellie's first with Lin to Philly. The first is payment for taking on the Lin salary for the year. Hinkie and Morey are in cahoots.

Jonas and a future 2nd for Wilson Chandler?

We need a decent SF. Singler and Martin are not gonna cut it. Singler can still play big minutes off the bench.

What's Chandler's value to the Nuggets?

I'm all for that but if Philly isn't interested in 2 years of Jennings something like this might work better:

Det:
In: J. Lin (8.4 M cap hit but $14.9 Salary)
Out: J. Jerebko, W. Bynum, L. Datome (9.2 M)

This gives Philly the same 1st round pick but saves them just under 6 M in salary.

Hou:
In: future 2nd round pick (Phi)
Out: J. Lin, 1st round pick

Philly:
In: J. Jerebko, W. Bynum, L. Datome (9.2 M) + 1st round pick (Hou)
Out: Future 2nd round pick (Phi)

I would love to have JLin7 on this team.

He's like a Tony Parker lite with better range and he just needs to be in a situation where he can control the offense instead of playing off-ball like he was told to in HOU.

Does he have a better head on his shoulders than Jennings? Absolutely, but talent-wise he's not any better than him, let alone a Tony Parker lite.

Yes but he's expiring and what exactly do you think the Pistions would be giving up?

Think of him as better than Will Bynum and Detroit gains 2 extra roster spots and 1 M in cap space for this season.

Would you miss JJ or Datome?

Even if he didn't start he could push Brandon Jennings.

What about this trade?

Detroit trades Will Bynum/Gigi Datome, 2015 2nd to Boston for Jeff Green.
Boston clears up capspace to help expedite their rebuild and we get a starting caliber SF

We then sign Brian Roberts to replace Will Bynum

2014-2015 Pistons
Jennings/Roberts/Dinwiddie
KCP/Meeks/Martin
Green/Singler/Jerebko
Monroe/Smith/Mitchell
Drummond/Monroe/Gray

We hope and pray that SVG reins in Smennings but I think that team is a lot more talented and fits better than last season. We've got all shooters on the perimeter to help our big guys down low.

^Datome is trash, so it'll probably be Singler(he isn't that much better)+Bynum+Jerebko+2nd rounder for Green. I've been asking for this trade for months!

I like it. You don't have to pray for Smith/Jennings. Having a legit NBA coach will help change a lot of things. Green would be a nice fit at SF.

Doubt the Lakers will want Bynum with already having Nash and Marshall there.....and the possibility that they could ad Thomas eventually. So...

Jerebko / Datome / Mitchell / future 2nd rounders

for

Future 2nd rounder

Return to Detroit Pistons
