It is very likely Carlos Boozer will play tonight when the Utah Jazz play host to the Atlanta Hawks. It's very probable the two-time All-Star will suit up in an NBA uniform and not a designer suit. There's a very good chance the power forward will see his first action since hurting his left knee on Nov. 18.

It's just not official yet. "It feels really good," Boozer said of his knee following the team's morning shootaround Monday. "I'm going to see how it feels tonight and make a game-time decision."

Boozer is almost bursting at the seams in anticipation of playing again after missing the past 44 games following his November injury and January surgery. He participated in 3-on-3 full-court scrimmages in Sunday's practice and says his knee feels better than it has since the injury occurred.

Larry H. Miller was honored Monday on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah. "This week the people of Utah mourn the passing of a beloved community leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Larry H. Miller's life is an inspiration to all of us who care about families, community and our country," he told the House. "Miller was an extraordinary businessman building more than 80 companies, including his auto business from one dealership in 1979 to 39 today. His business holdings expanded with the 1985 purchase of the Utah Jazz and later the Salt Lake Bees and creation of the Miller Motor Sports Park," he said.

Chaffetz added, "Perhaps more important than his business success was his charitable work, much of it unseen and anonymous. Through his Larry H. Miller charities, Miller provided for thousands of campus sports facilities and established a training center for entrepreneurs was well as a facility for public safety training."

He concluded, "Miller had a profound impact upon the state of Utah, and his works will continue to be a positive force in countless lives. I honor his accomplishments, his example, his philanthropy and wish nothing but the best for his family and hope they understand the deep gratitude that Utah shares for a truly honorable man."

The team has been in contact with forward Mikki Moore, who was waived by the Kings last week and is expected to clear waivers Monday. However, it is not believed the Cavs will seriously pursue Moore. Some league executive believe Moore is headed to the Boston Celtics as part of an arrangement tied to the Celtics sending the Kings Sam Cassell and cash in a trade last week.

Behind the scenes: Delonte West made his return from a fractured right wrist Sunday, but it was not the first time his presence was felt since his hard fall in Chicago in Jan. 15. Though he has kept a low profile while recovering, his teammates have constantly discussed how vocal West was during locker room periods before and after games.

"You have to be a teammate regardless and you have to contribute one way or another," West said. "You have to pull guys along when you're in a rut. It can sound repetitive if it is coming from the coaches all the time and I just wanted to do my part."

Monta Ellis' bumpy return from ankle surgery has taken another twist. The Warriors announced Sunday that Ellis will be shut down for at least a week after experiencing more stiffness in his left ankle.

Golden State's guard had played in 13 games since his season debut on Jan. 23, and was coming off one of his better outings - 14 points and a season-high five steals in Saturday's 133-120 win over the Thunder - before the decision to rest his ankle was made. "We've been pretty cautious with him all along and I think we'll proceed with that," assistant general manager Larry Riley said. "I'm not alarmed, but I think he needs some time. How much, I don't know."

Ellis stayed behind in Oakland for "advanced rehabilitation" with Mark Grabow, the team's strength and conditioning coach.

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett is heading back to Boston to be checked out by the team doctor after injuring his right knee against the Utah Jazz.

Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said Garnett was traveling Friday, and his right knee strain was expected to be examined by Dr. Brian McKeon on Saturday.

Garnett injured his knee while going up for an alley-oop late in the first half of Boston's 90-85 loss. He landed gingerly and motioned immediately to the bench for a substitute, then hopped on his good foot toward the locker room.

Yi Jianlian is starting again tonight. The NetsNew Jersey Nets were 18-19 with Yi starting, including the Jan. 9 game in Milwaukee where he was injured, suffering a broken right pinkie. Since that game, they're 6-13 and have lost their last five. So Lawrence Frank is re-inserting Yi in the starting lineup against the Sixers in the Meadowlands.

Frank is stopping at one former starter back in the first five. Bobby Simmons will remain a piece off the bench until at least Jarvis Hayes is back healthy. Frank explained Simmons gives him some scoring while Trenton Hassell remains a defensive presence in the first unit.

"With Yi it was just going to be a matter of time and there's no time like now," explained Frank who sat and discussed the situation with Ryan Anderson. " He's comfortable coming off the bench and providing energy."

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv suspended point guard Carlos Arroyo for one night last week. On Thursday, the club announced that Arroyo had been suspended from the club until further notice due to "inappropriate behavior." And he did not practice with the team on Thursday. However Arroyo apologized for his actions and was reinstated the next day.

Maccabi is just ahead of its most crucial game of the season, at home against Real Madrid in Week 4 of the Top 16. After a 19-point loss in Madrid, Maccabi is looking for revenge and a win with a margin sufficient enough to hold the potential tiebreaker advantage at the end of this stage. In 12 Euroleague games thus far, the guard from Puerto Rico averaged 13.6 points and 4.4 assists per game.

Jarvis Hayes, by the way, said he wants to play Wednesday. He was out shooting with his left thumb heavily taped and elastic-bandaged. He has partially torn ligaments and says he doesn't even consider more damage.

Spanish club CAI Zaragoza completed the signing of Loren Woods on Saturday. 30-year-old American center was without a club after leaving Zalgiris in January due to financial troubles. Woods will arrive to Spain to pass the medical before finalizing the deal.

During 8 Euroleague games for Zalgiris Loren Woods averaged 12.3 points and 9 rebounds per game. CAI Zaragoza will the third team in Europe for Woods as he has played for Zalgiris and Efes Pilsen previously.

Loren Woods also has NBA experience with five different teams (Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets).

MAILING IT IN
The Pistons' loss to Cleveland Sunday night was beyond embarrassing. It was downright disgraceful.

The effort was lacking, the execution was putrid. Their poor defensive rotation left shooters wide open on the perimeter and there was no ball movement on offense. Most of all, their body language spoke of a team that had already given up on the season. Slumped shoulders, blank looks, no hustle plays, it was all there on display before a national television audience.

I feel bad for Antonio McDyess, who thought he was coming back to a contender when he gave up $9 million to resign with the club. Otherwise, the Pistons are getting what they deserve. I've finally come around to the notion that the Pistons would be better off not making the playoffs. They need all the pieces they can get to rebuild this club. A lottery pick is also a lot more easier to trade in a larger package. And who knows, they could get real lucky like the Bulls did last June and wind up with a top three selection. At this point, the only positive developments with the Pistons are going to come after the season.

Indiana Pacers swingman Mike Dunleavy said Sunday that he should have a better indication of what direction to go with his injured right knee by the end of this week. "It's tough what happened," Dunleavy said before the Pacers' 98-91 victory over the Chicago Bulls. "I've got to see a couple more people. Right now it's a fact-finding process."

Dunleavy is seeking medical opinions outside the organization on what his alternatives are for dealing with his knee. It's possible he won't be back this season.

Dunleavy is disappointed he has only been able to play in 18 games. He averaged 15.1 points and 3.8 rebounds. "I'm very disappointed," he said. "More importantly, I'm disappointed for the organization and the fans. I feel like I can't do anything about this. Hopefully we can get this right and move forward."

It's not often Steve Blake strays from his steady, fundamentally driven game, so you had to know something rare was cooking Sunday afternoon when Blake shoveled a no-look, behind-the-head pass to Nicolas Batum in the first quarter.

Batum caught the ball at the three-point arc and swished his shot, giving Blake one of a NBA-record-tying 14 assists in the first quarter. "That's uncharacteristic for me," Blake said. "I don't like to throw passes when I'm not looking at guys. So I was surprised I did it after I did it."

Charges laid in death of Curry's ex
A 36-year-old lawyer fatally shot the former girlfriend and infant daughter of New York Knicks player Eddy Curry during a domestic-related dispute, according to police and published reports.Fredrick Goings of Chicago was charged yesterday with two counts of first-degree murder, Cook County State's Attorney spokeswoman Sally Daly said. Police said Goings was arrested Friday evening as he was getting into his car outside a relative's place in Chicago. Goings has not made any statements to authorities and is not co-operating in the investigation, Lt. Denis Walsh said.

The bodies of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her nine-month-old daughter, Ava, were found in their apartment on Jan. 24. Both died of multiple gunshot wounds. Henry also was the mother of ex-Chicago Bulls player Curry's 3-year-old son, who was found unharmed at the scene. Court records show that Goings was Henry's lawyer in a paternity case with Curry involving Ava.

According to the Chicago Tribune, records show that DNA tests confirmed Ava was Curry's daughter. Curry, through Knicks spokesman Jonathan Supranowitz, declined comment. Police said Goings and Henry had "a relationship" and that the motive for the shooting was "domestic related" but declined to elaborate.

Tracy McGrady to have microfracture surgery
Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will undergo season-ending microfracture surgery on his left knee in Chicago on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Rockets Team Physician Tom Clanton will assist Dr. Brian Cole with the procedure. McGrady played in 35 games this season and finishes with averages of 15.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds. The Rockets have gotten used to playing without some or all of their top stars, and now it’ll be for a very extended period.
