Dinwiddie got waived and I think Pistons have first crack at signing him. Sure could use an actual PG.

Pass for me.

Who would you want to take minutes away from?

Do you see him as a piece beyond this season?

To have first crack at him through the waiver wire, don’t you need cap space to absorb his contract?

You can only claim someone off waivers if you are willing to pay their contract, which the Pistons can't do here. He was making $18 million.

Grimes might get more. Excited to see what the new lineup looks like.

That’s a top of the lotto line up for sure.

We didn’t make these moves to be better this year. That categorically wasn’t their intended purpose.

I’m hoping we’ll benefit from Killian’s absence and that this will at least slightly make up for what we’re losing- at least when comparing to our record through all those games of Killian getting 24 minutes a night. But no, our offense won’t be as good as it’s been the last few weeks.

It would be lovely to get better despite making moves that more or less disregard this season.

Perhaps expecting that to be so is unrealistic.

Cade - Sasser
Ivey - Grimes
Fontecchio - Brown Jr
Stew - Ausar
Duren - Muscala

Sasser is a beast, can the Pistons go small and start him? Or he’s better as a 6th man. I feel like the dude can be a future all star.

I think its fine to go small for a crunch time lineup if we want what he brings, but I think with Cade/Ivey as starters it makes more sense to bring him off the bench at least for now... especialy since we just waived Killian and we just traded away Monte Morris.

PG: Cade (26) / Sasser (18) / Ivey (4)
SG: Ivey (28) / Grimes (14) / Sasser (6)
SF: Fontecchio (20) / Ausar (10) / Grimes (10) / Cade (8)
PF: Stewart (28) / Ausar (12) / Fontecchio (8)
C: Duren (32) / Muscala (16)

Total minutes :

Cade- 34
Ivey - 32
Duren - 32
Stew - 28
Fontecchio - 28
Sasser - 24
Grimes - 24
Ausar - 22
Muscala - 16

This is what I expect to see as the 9 man rotation

Anyone else see a problem here?

Jalen Duren / Isaiah Stewart / Mike Muscala / James Wiseman
/ /
Simone Fontecchio / Ausar Thompson / Troy Brown Jr
Jaden Ivey / Quentin Grimes / Shake Milton / Evan Fournier
Cade Cunningham / Marcus Sasser / Malachi Flynn / Ryan Arcidiacono

Obviously we are going to play a bunch of guys out of position but we have 0 PFs in our roster.

We're likely playing Stewart and/or Muscala there. Ausar have been playing almost full time PF and Fettuccini should play minutes there as well as Troy Brown Jr with Cade playing some SF.

But is it that hard to sign a couple of competent natural PFs and play our guys to their strength? Stewart and Muscala are pretty good stretch 5. Ausar is a 2/3 that plays a lot bigger than what he actually is and Cade and Ivey are SGs.

I know PF is different than what it used to be, and a lot of 3's are now 4's and 4's are now 5. But this is pathetic.

Agree that PF is our biggest position of need. We can survive the rest of the season with this roster but I would expect this to be addressed in the offseason. And hopefully we get the right player(s) to make this a position of strength. $70M should be enough to get the job done.

I’d like to see this unit start games:

Ivey
Cade
Ausar
(guards opposing team’s best scorer)
Fettuccine
Duren

Bench:
Sasser
Grimes
Umude
TBJ
Stewart

Cade-34
Ivey-30
Ausar-32
Fontecchio-28
Duren-28

Stewart-28
Sasser-24
Grimes-18 -- I would play Fournier, but he's not in our long-term plans
Muscala-18

He's been a good offensive player, and better than I thought on defense. He was brought in the game at the end to inbound. Orlando played great D, but he didn't panic.

However, he's not going to re-sign back, so we're preventing other guys from playing, although outside of the guys we've drafted, Fontecchio is the only one I'd want to re-sign. But all the cap space in the world means nothing if the best free agents don't wanna come here. Hence, Joe Harris.

I thought Fournier has a team option and Weaver already stated they planned on picking it up?

I see he does have one for 19 million. If he plays well, why not. We need veterans, but he doesn't strike me as a very vocal guy. Although, Monty said Cade, Duren, and Evan talked during half-time.
