We had a similar idea I guess haha.

It's a solid deal for both sides and I really dont see why Boston doesnt make the deal.

Jennings is making 5M less than Rondo and if Brad Stevens can get Crawford to play PG that well when he was a SG his entire life im sure he can turn Jennings into a serviceable player esp since Brandon has had a decent year thus far.

Wallace gets cleanly dumped for Stuckey, who can be moved for another player if Ainge sees fit.

Bass' deal gets replaced by Jerebko, Datome, Mitchell. Datome and Mitchell at least give the Celtics players with upside as opposed to a veteran in Bass that has no business on a rebuilding team. All the players expire the same time as Bass anyways.

Finally, Boston dumps Green's 8M deal, also not necessary in a rebuild, for Charlie V pure expiring.

For the Pistons it's a no brainer we become a threat for the 3rd seed in the East but what sets us apart from Toronto is our deep bench that can score - Bynum - Singler - Wallace - Bass - Harrelson

I like Gerald Wallace and even if he plays like trash he is still serviceable for 15 minutes off the bench backing up the 3.

The biggest positive to this trade is getting Rondo. There is no way Drummond averages less than 15-16 pts a game with Rondo as PG, the alley-oops and bunnies Andre would get would be too many to count. Smith would be forced to go down low and Rondo would again find him in his spots as he did with Pierce, Allen, and KG in Boston. He may be overrated but Rondo looks for his teammates and even with Mo-Ron Cheeks we would be deadly in the playoffs no one would want to face us.

These reports are getting my hopes up. Hopefully Dumars doesn't crush them. I wonder if Dumars had Rondo in mind all along, even while signing Jennings and Smith in the offseason.

The trade deadline is going to be very interesting this season. Normally im sure that Dumars wont do anything, but this year could be different.
I have no idea exactly what he'll do, but i also have a feeling i'm going to be annoyed.

This team does need a point guard who can play defense and pass like Rondo.

Unfortunately this team also needs to get rid of all of the chuckers and non-shooters that make Rondo a poor fit with the current (horribly constructed) roster.

At this point I'm not really using poor fit with the current roster as a criteria for who we should and should not acquire. The current roster has failed, and anything that improves this teams ability level is something I like in the long term. Rondo would be our best player.

With that said I don't think a package around Jennings/Monroe does it, unless we're taking back a bad deal, something I'm not sure I'd be willing to do given the current state of things.

I agree the pistons could use Rondo regardless, but I think getting Green back as well or an additional shooter from somewhere is just as critical.

I don't think you understand the mindset of a contender trying to get over the hump with limited trade assets. This is a team so desparate to add talent that they just signed Hedo Turkoglu - a convicted PED user who hasn't played in 2 years - and have explored adding Lamar Odom - a known crack addict. And you are telling me they wouldn't want the 5th best player in the league in assists? gtfoh

So he's the 5th best passer in the league?? That statement is so confusing, nauseating really.

Your reading comprehension is confusing and nauseating. What is so hard to understand about Jennings being the 5th best player in the league in assists?

Do you need a picture to figure it out? lol Its so easy a caveman can do it...

Aah! So you mean he's currently 5th in the league in assist per game,

Ok I'm done being a dick, my point was that it's a horrible way to judge a PG.

I'm not a big fan of trading moose but if we could trade him and jennings for rondo and then sign melo in the offseason I wouldn't mind it.

I just can't imagine Melo coming here but that would be a solid team for sure...

Drummond/Harrelson
Smith/Jerebko/Mitchell
Anthony/Datome

Me to but melo has said many times that he wants to play with rondo, and rondo n smith are good friends also. We get rondo and maybe melo does come here who knows.

Outside of Drummond- who could this team legitimately trade for a lottery pick in this year's draft?

Monroe could garner a late lottery pick plus more.

I heard the Suns are looking for somebody established and willing to part with a draft pick to accelerate the rebuild.

Who would give a late lottery pick and more for Monroe's expiring contract?

I think about half the teams in the league who would want a starting caliber center like Monroe on their team.

talking about the draft... what guy is seen like a steal of the draft right now, taking mock drafts available into consideration?

Could be Glenn Robinson III one of them? Kyle Anderson? I don't watch NCAA

Are you talking about Monroes "Restricted Free Agent" contract where the team can match any offer out there?

I think half the league would consider that with the lack of solid Center's in the NBA. Monroe is bordering a top 10 center compared to whats out there.

if Adrien Payne can stay healthy, I think he'd be a mid to late 1st round steal and Cauley-Stein outside the lotto would be pretty good value, but im not seeing a whole lot of sleepers in the mid to late 1st in this draft.

GR3 might be better off coming back for one more year of school to tighten up his J if it doesn't come around this season. I think Stauskas is actually the guy on that team to look out for.

I liked Slo-Mo coming out of high school. I haven't watched him play at all this year, but I like his skill-set and he could be a late 1st round steal, especially if his new found shooting range isn't an aberration. I want to see how hes looking on the defensive end though, because that's where his lack of quickness could be a real liability.

Monroe isn't an expiring contract, he's an RFA. "Expiring contract" indicates he's in his walk year and can go anywhere - the acquiring team could match any offer sheet Monroe would sign, and Monroe or any agent worth anything would not advise signing a one year deal to then become an UFA the next year because of risk of injury. Monroe could get a 4 yr max money deal and then be a UFA when he's 28-29 years old and able to choose his destination as a UFA should he so choose rather than extending with his current team at the time with the financial security of being set for life already.

It's too bad Washington won't have their first rounder - because Moose in DC is a damn good fit and with Wall, Beal and Porter could have been willing to give up wing player lotto pick for young veteran center from Georgetown.

I trade Monroe and Jennings for Rondo - but that's it. No future first rounders at all - we'd need them to flesh out our depth desperately. I don't think Rondo will be traded by the Celts though, so this is all moot.
