Re: Free Agency
I think the wrap on Pat Williams is that he passes up shoots a lot and is just really passive on offense. His percentages are good, but his highest volume for his career has been 3.4 attempts per game from the three.

I get the skepticism about overpaying free agents and just about every one is an overpay but these are two guys right in their prime who would fill needs. I'm always more skeptical about overpaying guys in their late 20s, early 30s (like Grant for example). The Pistons would be getting the best years from these guys so I'd be on board with at least one of them. I don't think both is an option with Tech needing to be signed and Cade almost certainly getting the max and wouldn't want both anyway.
If they do sign Claxton (who I think I'd prefer over Monk), Duren is likely out the door because I don't know how you can have two offensively challenged frontcourt players in todays' NBA to add to Ausar at SF who can't shoot from 3. A Claxton signing would almost assuredly mean big changes to the starting lineup unless the Pistons foolishly want to go with a non-shooting starting lineup in a shooting league.
There are a ton of very impactiful free agents, and hopefully we alread have our stars in Cade and Ausar.
Naji Marshall, Derrick Jones Jr, Goga Bitadze (top tier defender and rim protector but very underrated), De'Anthony Melton, Gary Harris, KCP, Royce O'Neale, Obi Toppin, Isaiah Hartenstein, Isaac Okoro, Patrick Williams are players that would fit well next to our core
Cade and Ausar and nobody else should be our core - Fontecchio, Grimes, Stewart could be a top tier bench if put in the proper position to succeed.
Weaver is no longer our GM, we haven't seen or heard much from Langdon, but I will assume he is competent and he does have a brain.
We won 14 games, he shouldn't be an imbecile like Weaver thinking Stewart is a 4 and a player as dumb and clueless as Ivey should be starting and just because we're losing a player like Duren could stop giving a **** not care about defense and play me first ball and develop a ton of bad habits and bring those guys back and expect us to compete every game.
Anything less than 3 new starters and 5 different rotation players out of a 9-10 man rotation would be pathetic.
His per36 numbers are insane, and would firmly put him into the top tier center category, and all-star. If he can ever be consistent with his outside shot, damn.

That would give the Pistons two incredible shot-blockers at the rim(for those who don't know Gogas game, go check it out, especially his shot-blocking)and, as I stated earlier, if Goga can be consistent from 3, and incredible front-court of the future. Goga is 24, and Claxton is 25.
SG is always an issue for me, as I know the type of player I want there(scoring machine. Think Lavine with defense)but don't know of available players besides Monk, that the team wouldn't have to trade for. Isaiah Joe is super interesting, but can he handle the scoring load, that would be thrust upon him?
I have mentioned Goga a ton of times in a recent past. He is a top tier defender and he did really well in Orlando when they had to start him.
He is a center, not a PF. Weaver is gone, hopefully we will build a roster that makes sense, not Goga/Claxton/Ausar.

Re: Free Agency
If the Hawks draft Sarr, what do you think it would take to pry Okongwu from them? He is on about 14 million a year, has a nice little jumper (although not super efficient yet) and is mostly a positive on defense.

It would probably cost Stewart or Duren. Sarr is another Wiseman prospect. If Hawks draft Sarr, we should draft Clingan not go after another center. Whether we keep him or not, the value is there in my opinion and the value is in Duren too so we’d gain a trade piece and we desperately need another one. Other trade pieces are Reed Sarr or Risaccher. I really think a guy like Sarr can drop in the draft. Everything is smoke until draft night. Guy like Edey can easily jump the draft, why not? He’s 7’4” a possible answer to Wenbenyama. This draft is gonna be wild, lots of moving pieces.

Re: Free Agency
Monk is better than Gordon, Gordon was always taking very difficult shots, I think Monk will fit, plus Dumars signed Gordon when we already had RIP, we didn’t have a PG(stuckey and Bynum), then he gave him away for a late lottery pick, this was actually worse I think than any move weaver ever did. But he made lots of good ones before that, and he was Joe Dumars.

Gordon was way better in Chicago before he came to Detroit than Monk has been in his career. His worst year of shooting at that point was 40.5% from 3. Monk has never even shot 40.5% once in 7 years and he tends to be around 35%. It's fair to compare him to BG. Funny enough, Ivey is a better comparison.
Crazy that Dumars traded the 9th pick to get off of BG's contract lol. Luckily it didn't turn into much.

I remember watching the 2014 NBA draft lottery, where we had the 8th worst record and our pick was top 8 protected from the BG trade. We had also done our usual thing in the Dumars era where the team won a few late season meaningless games which caused us to go from the 6th or 7th worst record to 8th.
And then the Cavs, after winning the lottery in both 2011 and 2013, vaulted from 9th to 1st again and we dropped down to 9th and therefore conveyed our pick. It was one of the more demoralizing moments to be a Pistons fan (since overtaken by the 28 game losing streak). Luckily it ended up being one of the weaker drafts and we didn't miss out on much (and no, we wouldn't have taken Jokic at #9

Dumars traded that pick just to get to FA one year earlier if i remember correctly (expiring Magette?)
I'm assuming he also took J Smith with the money lol

Yep, the narrative at the time was that Gores was pushing for a playoff team and Dumars contract was running out in 2014 so hence he traded BG's contract to go out and get Josh Smith in the 2013 off-season. We were also subjected to a season of watching Corey "Bad Porn" Maggette.
It really has been a tough 15 or so years as a Pistons fan.

Goga would be a solid backup behind Duren. I have watched Goga some this past year and he is solid and cheap.
