The difference between a #9 this year and a #15-20 next year is big. I'd hate to have them gloating over our desperation to get rid of BG.

OK.

Only the top 3 picks are determined by ping-pong lottery. All the rest of the picks revert to last season's record.

Thus, if we get a lucky ping-pong ball, we're picking 1, 2, or 3. If we don't, and no one else behind us gets picked either, we're 8th. If someone leapfrogs us, we're 9th and lose the pick to the Bobcats.

Thank you

This thread is a clinic on how to drive traffic away from this forum lol

I can't believe people are talking to that guy like that just for asking a simple question about the rules. Not everyone spends their time studying the NBA rulebook.

Hey, we would have earned that #9 pick if we get it. BG was a huge waste of time.

Good luck tomorrow, either way it goes. I honestly don't think I'll be that disappointed if y'all keep the pick b/c I know Cho and Higgins would just **** up the pick anyway.

IMO this is the deepest draft in the past 6 years, so if we lose our pick it would be heartbreaking!

Hypothetical just for fun:

You could have 50/50 odds at a top 3 pick, but if you didn't get it, you would forfeit the pick altogether...

Or, you can have the 8th pick, 100% guaranteed, but you have no chance of getting any other pick (better or worse)

Which would you choose? :)

Easy choice, you take the 50/50 chance at top three or nothing... that's half a franchise player (and our pick next year if we lose the flip).

If you take the guaranteed 8th, you lose the pick next year and get someone from the Smart (optimistic, unlikely), Stauskas, etc. group, i.e. a contributor that's very unlikely to be any better than someone you could get for 3 years and 20 million as a free agent.

I'd take the 50/50. To me, the gap between the Wiggins/Parker tier and the Vonleh/Gordon/Stauskas tier at #8 is tremendous. Not saying the Pistons can't get a solid player where we're currently slated, but that top tier to me are potential megastars and franchise changers.

Yeah 50/50 is the super easy choice. Franchise player vs nothing coin flip over Nik Stauskas/McBuckets etc all day...

50/50 at top 3 pick easily, if we get Wiggins/Parker or even Exum it would be great for the Pistons, but if we lose our pick its not so bad because we already have Drummond to build around. But losing our pick would suck imo because now with Stan Van Gundy I think and hope that this will be the last time for a while that we will be a lottery team.

I'm getting nervous that were going to lose this damn pick now. I just want to get this over with so we know our fate already.

To be clear on that hypothetical, I wasn't saying you lose the pick as in give it to Charlotte this year and then get the pick next year.

I meant you would lose the pick period. Then you still owe a pick to Charlotte.

Makes it closer, of course, but still the 50/50.

Dumars final F--U to the Pistons is us losing the pick to the Bobcats

Also you gotta wonder why we didn't keep BG and give up Charlie V

We were already giving away the pick, Bobcats would have taken either player. Dumars that piece of trash chose to keep Charlie the player who absolutely wouldn't contribute jack **** to our team

Im so glad that fat moron is out of the front office

Look at the terrible position he left our team in. Makes me cringe when i see and hear people defending that scum bag

Also has anyone heard any word on Chauncey is he coming back next year? If so that means we would be paying Chauncey, Bynum, Jerebko, and Datome 11.5 M next year. That is roughly 2-3M less than what Monroe is gonna get this offseason. Dumars is a true assholee.
