i'm shocked any team in this league would take leuer even if he's expiring for an ok player in snell that fits our needs at the 3 and a pick...leuer wont even be in the league fall 2020.

Plus what we would have paid for a 3 and D wing. How much would that cost. Snell is now our best sf.

They did the trade for a free agent signing and luxury tax concerns I would imagine. Just like when we paid the hornets to take a guy.

Love this trade. Hope we get jontay porter second round.

Some but thinks Andre is being traded to hawks for bazemire and 8 and 10. Tomorrow will be nutty for sure.

I am seriously excited for this trade. Can you please appreciate that DEAD MONEY LEUER 10M for 12M ALIVE ROLE Player shooting 40% from 3? That's incredible.

I seriously love Snell's game. I am in dear whole heartedly believe in his defense. I've seen him play for Chicago. He's a beast. I am in real love with this trade.

This seems to make sense. It does cost us 12M next year, but we got someone who can play at a position we desperately need filled, and we got an extra pick.

For one, this is a huge upgrade in the immediate future....Snell the last three years have pretty much been a 45% from the field, 40% from behind the arc shooter, and he's a good defender. Name another wing on the roster that can do that please? Ellington is the closest and he's not the defender Snell is. And we another pick...a shot at adding cheap talent.

Sure...we eat up another year but $14M in this league isn't a lot nowadays and cap space with this team isn't the best thing anyways. When we've had cap space the past decade, what have we done with it? Yeah...made horrible decisions! Detroit isn't a free agency destination so cap space with the exception on the trade market is so overrated in a market like Detroit.

Overall, this was a good deal to improve the team today. Worry about the $14M next year.

Maybe because basically everybody that comes to Detroit loses their shot, primarily because when they get to Detroit they don't have near the talent around them thus they don't get near as many open looks.

Tony Snell doesn't really upgrade anything on this team. He's not a better shooter than Kennard, and he's not a better defender than Brown.

Plus this only continues to bury Khyri Thomas.

Tony Snell is a body to put on the floor and not much else, a body that is owed $24 million. There is no upside to having Tony Snell on this roster.

Doesn't really cost us 24M. Need to deduct Leuer's dead weight 9.5M salary off of that, so 14.4M. And we get a pick.

I like the logic of this trade.
We had a dead weight 10M expiring PF: we traded it for useful pieces at least.
We needed a SF desperately: we have a 3&D one now.
We weren't happy with the available SF at #15: we can now go BPA and see for a SF at #30.
We'll see what Stefanski will do with that tonight but at least it's encouraging and less depressive than his presser.

Is Snell better than GR3? If so, our team just got better.

I sort of think we should trade Dre tomorrow but I doubt that will happen. Boston looks like it needs a center with Horford leaving. They could give us picks and absorb most of his salary...

Dre for Hayward and some assets could make sense if we're tanking. I hope something happens. Anything, really, just to make things interesting.

I love this trade. Such a great move. We didn’t have cap next year anyways (unless Dre opts out). Wondering if we trade 15 now for a proven player.

The extra year sucks, but we got a slightly overpaid guy that fills a need and an extra asset. Not the worst thing

Look at next years free agent class......lol.

If we get assests for our expirings and take on a extra year im ok with it. Not to Mention atleast this guy will see the floor.

Milwaukee loves them some white shooting bigs lol.

I actually like this. The trade was zero value in Leuer for a starter SF in Snell. He's a 3&D guy who accepts being the 5th option offensively. Say he's only worth 6M a season, Leuer was worth nothing here, and come next season we're overpaying him by $6M BUT our FO assumes they hit on #30 and we have a rotation player for five years for $10M total.

Our roster is so imbalanced we need rookie contract players in the rotation. Safer, lower ceiling 3-4 year players fall to late first. I bet the guy SA or GS or Milwaukee would have drafted at #30 would have been called a big steal.

PF come cheaper in FA as well - whereas wing players are at a premium. This will give us more flexability with our tight cap situation.

This. The standards around here are depressing.

Funny thing is many of these same people were raving about the Robinson signing.
