Looking way too much into the first summer league game for a 41-41 team. Just relax. Doumbouya is the only player you really should care about.

Khyri was the best player on the court today (26 points). In addition to a smooth three point shot, he showed more ability to get to the rim as well, but needs to tighten up his dribble. He also can play some defense and had 2 steals. He actually shows more ability as a PG than Brown... Don't get it..

Svi looked good on offense. Can do things both from deep and driving to the hole. Like his size. I know they are looking at how he plays defense, and I thought that was so so today. He also turned the ball over a little too much ( six today) for any coach's liking. Some of it could be a new summer league roster, but he got off his feet a lot with no where to go..

Brown is not a PG and he struggled in that role today. The Croatian defender poked the ball away from him too often. Still plays hard and give his all no matter what. You appreciate that, but if you were looking for improvement in his offense, you did not see it today. You cheer for someone who plays so hard and I thought this would eventually lead to improvement over the summer. If the offense does not come, he could start to lose minutes with a better roster this year ...Right now, he strictly brings defense. As Casey said on the telecast, they need more guys who can hit open shots...

I also thought the 2nd round pick ,while he did not play a lot, looked like he has a loooooonnnngggg way to go. Did we really give up 3 2nd round picks for that guy. What am I missing?? Oh yeah , he is represented by Art Tellum's son. Now it at least makes sense at some disappointing level....Hope I am wrong, but not sure he ever plays meaningful minutes or makes the team. I will hold out some hope because he is only 18.

The Wither kid played well. Had 16 pts and was 4/7 from 3. Looked up his background and he was a D2 undrafted FA last year. Played some at GR. Has some potential and maybe can develop at GR more this year..

King was so so. Did not get much time today or touches.

Donta Hall - You can see his strength is more defense than offense. Nothing stood out.

Uhtoff - started but did nothing that stood out. Found it hard getting touches.

Costello gave some decent minutes and played smart. I think he was 11pt/8reb for the day and played decent defense.

I caught that too. I don't think the interviewer knew that but it seemed weird.

If he choses to opt out, God bless him. I don't mind him at a reasonable price but hopefully coked up Mr. Gores does't offer him another Max deal.

I sure hope the Piston executives are smart enough to see that regardless of the big rebounding numbers, it's very difficult to be successful paying that much for his skillset in the current NBA.

I have no idea what the interviewer even meant by that, so I’m not reading anything into it.

Thanks to pistonpat for the review. Anyone else watch the game?

Only 4 dudes worth watching in SL:

Thomas, Brown, Svi & Sekou

Assuming Luke continues to take steps forward it'd be nice if 2 of the 4 could make a leap.

that's 6 guys and 1 ball. not everyone will have a great game and not everyone will be in rhythm if someone is hot. let's just be realistic with the outcome of some of these players

Bone ain't taking part as his trade isn't finalized until tomorrow and he'll have had no practice time with the team.

he'll obviously play in the summer league before the summer league is over..he's been hanging out with the team already and the trade will be official tomorrow

it’s kind of crazy to think that we could see 7+ of these summer league guys on the pistons at some point in time. i’m even slightly intrigued by the bigs on the SL roster, Costello looks like he could be an end of the bench big ala zaza and moreland.

that being said, the 3 “vets” all looked pretty good with a few ugly/sloppy moments, which is to be expected. i’ve been lobbying to play khyri over langston since the 2nd half of last season, and this was definitely a step towards making that a reality. he looks confident and assertive.

Biggest positives for this team for next season that we could learn from the summer league.

Bruce Brown added a 3 point shot over the summer (1-4 too early to tell)
Khyri Thomas is good enough to replace Calderon as our 3rd string PG (26 pts looks promising)
Our third string PG is likely to get some burn with injury concerns to Reggie and Rose.

I don't think we're going to get much other information out of these summer league games from anyone. Those are the two to watch to see what pieces of the puzzle they can play for Detroit next season.

Let's not Overlook Svi.he can shoot and make plays for others. these guys have to be developed put them in a position to succeed I remember hearing how pop handled Kwahi his first year it was two dribbles pass or shoot there is room and the need for both Svi and Khyri.. no longer any room on the team for Galloway these young guys need to be played and developed

Yeah I'd really like to see Galloway traded for a big at this point.

As long as the big is a 1 or 2 year deal I'd be happy to make that move and give tje kids a shot

I've got the game on now and Thomas and Svi look pretty solid. Browns offense is still lacking. His play making isn't great. I think Thomas is a better option at pg

3rd pg is Frazier.

Khyri and Brown should split 20 minutes at SG, if we get rid of Galloway.

I take summer league with a massive grain of salt but I liked what Thomas showed today. Hopefully he can take over Galloway's role when we inevitably trade him.
