Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
Two questions about Ivey:
1. Can he shoot from the outside?
2. Does he bring it defensively?
Because I know I get both of those in spades from Mathurin.

Yes and yes, he doesn't have as smooth of a jumper as Mathurin but it works.
I made that mistake with guys like Hali and LaMelo worrying about different looking shooting mechanics but they've made it work.

Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
outside of the top 3 guys, my next 3 up are Eason/Sharpe/Daniels
Eason doesn't seem to be on the Pistons radar from what I can tell, so I'll say my pick would be Sharpe/Dyson, leaning towards Dyson atm.
Sharpe is souring me a bit, and could be replaced by Ivey
Next group would be Ivey/Murray/Sochan/Mathurin in some order

Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
Im the 5 people that picked Murray. lol. I was listening to the Ringer podcast and they listed the floor for Murray as Marcus Morris and Ceiling as Danny Granger. With Sharpe being a total question mark and Ivey having huge red flags(his lack of mid range game scares me) im going with the most ready player.
kinda reminds me of a pf cade. only shoots with his right, can do everything with both hands. People say he cant do what he's doing on NBA players but I think he could outside of Giannis and AD. I think he's crafty and smart enough, plus he'll be guarded by NBA 4's. Outside of Giannis, AD and Jaren Jackson Murray will be good.

come on... I'd prefer to swing for the fences and take one of Ivey and Sharpe, but Murray will be a perennial Nba starter and would be a super solid pick.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
I've got to say, I'm a little shocked to see the poll so heavily slanted, but watching some of the more super athletic players around the NBA lately (Morant)I get it. If Ivey is picked, I really hope the fit between him and Cade works out, because that would set the backcourt for over a decade.
Throw in Hayes as the third guard, and your foundation in the backcourt is rock solid.
Now to get another top 10 pick...

I need to study up on Ivey more, because so far I'm not a fan.

I've heard before, I think it was Edwards of the Athletic, that the IDEA of Ivey on the Pistons makes total sense. But will the actuality of it be what people think.
For me, the reason I personally lean Ivey is that I want someone who can take primary ballhandling responsibilities from Cade at times to not have his usage at the Luka level. Sharpe I don't think can do that, Mathurin I don't think can do that, and Murray I know can't do that. So in this draft, that leaves Ivey and also Daniels if you are a believer in him. Or Hayes obviously if he finally develops a 3. That's what's wrong with Daniels fit right now though. He's like a Hayes in that he can run your offense, is a plus on defense, but currently is a hole offball with his 3 pt shot. So I don't know if he can play with Cade, just like Hayes.

Hes being compared to t.harris and jerami grant. There is out comes that end in bench player its not absurd. Older college players bust too. Just because hes called safe doesnt mean he cant bust.

What's not to like? A Uber explosive guard with functional in game athleticism. He ain't the best fit with cade but who cares he has the potential to be better. Look at the Celtics they made it work with they're 2 wings they ain't the best fit either. Also the pistons really lack athleticism and other ball handlers and playmakers we rely on scrubs like Joseph and Hayes I don't want a James Harden offense the more playmaking the better.Kalamazoo317 wrote:I need to study up on Ivey more, because so far I'm not a fan.

James Jones never averaged 10ppg in the NBA, and was a career bench player. In his 4 years in college he maxed out at under 17ppg on 44% shooting as a senior. Keegan dropped 24/8 on elite efficiency (64.8% TS!), with very low TO's his sophomore year. He gets to the line. Shot 40% from three. Is crafty and relentless around the rim. He's good off-the-ball at cutting and knocking down shots. Very good in transition.
Of all of the guys in the draft, Keegan might be the closest thing to a sure-fire solid NBA starter in the whole bunch, perhaps with the exception of Jabari who will at least be a nice 3+D guy. As others have said, Keegan is kinda like a PF version of Cade with his non-flashy game that has very few weaknesses.
I'm not saying I draft him for sure over some of the other guys, but if the Pistons end up with him at 5, and we move on from Grant, he's got a legit shot at ROY.
Obviously there's a world where ANY player busts. Injuries, mentality issues, the yips, whatever. You could really say this about any player. Chet being Thon Maker is in the "realm of possibility" I guess, but I wouldn't pass on him just because of some tiny chance he is the absolute worst case scenario.

Just because hes really productive does not mean he cant be a bust. 24 and 8 amazing Garza did 24 and 10 as a junior and senior. Iowa runs a system that makes him look good similar to Garza. Many of the prospects this season are in systems making them look worse Keegan has the system working with him.
40% 3pt but only 75%from the line. 75% from the line makes me question how good the 3pter. That 75% isnt much over average shooting. For Murray to pay off pick five hes going to have to be elite shooting with his skill set. That means were betting on a 75% ft% shooter to be elite its possible but far from a sure thing.
Of course everyone questions the lateral quickness. Hes going to be 22 in August i believe. I question how well he is gomna score when hes not bigger and stronger then everyone.
Not saying hes likely a bust just its for sure possible. He has warts just like everyone were choosing from.

Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
I’m not going to sit here and predict what kind of player Keegan Murray is going to be, because I work for a living , how the **** would i really know ?
With that said , I don’t really love his fit next to Saddiq bey . Both are average at best athletes imo (he looks…. Not fast, to me with my naked eye). The fit, kinda feels a little redundant. I would like to slide a pf next to bey, that can also shoot, but also could be a secondary lob threat, maybe protect the rim a little . Or maybe just start bagley, and try and grab another pf later in the draft that can be a future starter here, someone too develops a little and get 18 mins a night off the bench.
For those reasons , I’m not the biggest fan of drafting Keegan Murray , I’m in the mathurin/ivey , then I guess sharpe boat. I think Murray could very well turn out to be a very solid pf, just think a guard would just be a better pick .

Re: Who's your pick? (Poll included)
Ivey was acting like a baby in the game vs Murray team I believe. I’ve seen him twice, I can see the potential he has, but will he turn into that baby or into a dominate player. Just seeing him act like that turned me off and we have cade. If we do get him so be it, but I don’t think that’s who they will take. I’d probably go Murray, but I’ll be excited with whoever we get be clause we have cade, not as excited if we get Ivey and he clashes with cade, but would hope for best. Hard to see cade clashes with anyone tho
