We take the wins, but squeaking by a 9-13 team that was down multiple starters and role players (plus had two starters foul out) is not a good feeling. Team just looks off the past few weeks.
Nice to see Holland getting his confidence back this past few weeks.

He didn’t play because Ron was playing well. And because, when he was in there, he was tentative as hell. I still think he came back before he was ready.
It'll be interesting to see how long before Ivey starts really forcing more on offense. You know he won't be happy playing 10 MPG in a contract year for the remained of this season. I'm sure he still sees himself as a starter and nearly 30 MPG player he was before he went down with an injury last year.
Spot on. JBB is just going to go with the hot hand until he proves otherwise. If Ivey wants to get more minutes, he's going to have to earn them in the limited time he gets. Outside of Stew, there's no one on the bench I'm confident gets 15+ minutes a night.

Went to the game tonight. Lots of odd calls. The flagrant fouls call was strange.
I was right next to Jaden Ivey for pre game. He was talking with someone for about 20 to 30 minutes. Not sure if it was his dad or what. The conversation seemed deep and I did not see Jaden smiling too much.
Isiah Stewart is a nice guy and so is Caris. Both made conversation with the fans and took time to sign autos. Cade and Duren are tight. They come out together for warmups and leave together. Did not sign any autos except for Ted Nugent. I think Jaden is gone. His value is low right now.

I’m certain Jaden is very displeased with the current situation, and it’s understandable.
That said, use the minutes you get to earn more. Playing disinterested, or, even worse, scared, isn’t going to move you up the depth chart.

I believe he's still on minute restrictions. Also, adding the fact that we're trying to win. He's gotta play well within those limited minutes and earn his way back in the lineup. Winning comes first though

Thats wild. I'll be back the Blazers game on the 22nd. Gotta drive from Seattle to Portland and check it out. I'll be front row and hope to see some interactions and a win

GG (I guess?) Detroit GMers...
IMO, that was some pretty horrible refereeing both ways tonight--Vacillating between touch fouls and letting them play all game long. It didn't look like either team ever really got comfortable. 6 players with 5+ fouls = nearly unwatchable.
Robinson's two timely threes really won this game...that and Detroit just outplaying Portland in the last 4 minutes or so.
I haven't watched much Pistons basketball these past couple of years. You guys have a gritty and fun group!

83 free throws is just ridiculous.
That said, with these two teams, it’s not that surprising. Detroit fouls the most in the whole league, and is also top 5 in drawing fouls. Physical is what we want. And between Deni and Jerami constantly driving and looking for contact… well, you know what happened.

Deni Avdija is a baller. He would fit in really good with Cade and the rest of the team here.
Hard work pays off. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Would have never guessed Ted Nugent for a Pistons fan. Or someone who would ever be in downtown Detroit...gusman wrote:Went to the game tonight. Lots of odd calls. The flagrant fouls call was strange.

Quick question, cause a friend is telling me Stew wasn't injured last year vs Knicks and wouldn't have helped. I of course send him vids of his blocks and dunks to torment him. But what actual injury did he have? Was it just tendinitis in the knee?

I watched Demi Abidja the whole game. The guy might be a baller, but he did not seem like a team guy in a lot of ways. He made weird facial expressions and genuinely seemed pissed at his teammates at times. He was definitely playing with a higher level of wanting to win, I just question if his team likes him. He was just kind of annoying at times.

Deni is a team guy.
He tries to do too much sometimes because of holes in the roster due to injuries and mediocre overall talent.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Re: 12/5/25 - Trail Blazers @ Pistons - 7:30PM ET
Deni was clearly playmaking for his team all night and just not getting results from his team. I think any superstar in the league would get frustrated by that. Leaders don't just sit back and smile at you and say "atta boy" when you're not pulling your weight.
I know Trailblazers have a losing record, but they're a legit team this year and that was a legit win. They have talent on their roster and plenty enough of it was there for them to win last night.
That whistle was crazy and both teams were thrown by its inconsistency. I think part of our winning was figuring out the right way to draw calls on offense in the fourth (Cade especially did this well, I think, and made all of his clutch free throws for once!).
Our offense is still a bit disjointed overall, but it's tough to tell how much of that was Portland's D, how much of that is us and our spacing/secondary playmaking, etc., and how much of that was the weird reffing. I will say, compared to some other recent games (especially Milwaukee), we didn't just sit back and accept the defense taking the paint away from us - we found ways to navigate around the defense and still get plenty of action in the paint and at the hoop. In short, we were more aggressive and assertive and found a way to still play our game, not just let the defense turn us into a perimeter jump shooting team.
(Though I'll say that a clutch offensive possession resulting in a corner three by Ausar with 12 seconds left on the shot clock was *wild* and is something we have to be smarter about!).

I agree for the most part. And I think it's insane that people are hesitant to make certain moves to improve this team now because they've already earmarked a potential $25-$30 million/year payday for him 2 years down the line. I'm clearly missing something.Cowology wrote:Ausar is overrated. Love his defense...but that offense is never going to develop. He'll get some garbage buckets because he hustles, but the guy has zero touch and can't shoot. I don't see him getting much better than what he already is.
