Shaq hits milestone, LeBron just misses triple-double
O'Neal became the fifth player to score 28,000 career points, and the Big Diesel made his enormous presence known at both ends of the floor as the Cleveland Cavaliers began a long stretch of home games with a 108-100 win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.

LeBron James scored 28 points and performed a few signature dunks that won't be seen during the All-Star slam contest and Mo Williams added 22 as the Cavs, who just returned from a long road trip, improved to 15-3 at Quicken Loans Arena. They play 10 of their next 12 at home before Feb. 19.

Chris Bosh scored 21 for Toronto but was limited to just five after halftime by Cleveland's defense, which allowed 60 points in the opening half. The Raptors only scored 17 in the fourth.

Celtics at Pistons
Tip-off: 7:30 tonight, The Palace, Auburn Hills
TV/radio: FSD/WWJ 950
Outlook: The first game between the old rivals this season. The Celtics will be without Kevin Garnett (right knee), who they sorely miss. He may return Friday. The Celtics have lost three straight and have struggled defensively without Garnett. The Celtics are 16-5 on the road.

Pistons midseason report: Jury is still out
REASONS TO BELIEVE
1. Honestly, the injury situation can't get any worse the second half. Can it? The Pistons have lost 87 man-games to injuries already this season. They had 57 all of last season. A team can't go through so much bad luck in terms of injuries for an entire season. Right?

2. The few games the roster has been whole, it's looked like a pretty dangerous team. Few teams possess the perimeter power that this one does when everyone is healthy and ready to play. But they simply haven't been healthy.
3. Despite all the injuries, Detroit has managed to stay within distance of the Eastern Conference playoff picture. After Boston, Cleveland, Orlando and Atlanta, and maybe add Toronto and Miami to that list, the rest of the conference is extremely mediocre. A five-game winning streak could boost Detroit back into the playoff picture.

4. Ben Wallace has turned back the clock and is playing like he did during the 2004 championship run. He's proven wrong everyone who felt he was done.
5. The Pistons hit a home run in the draft, particularly getting Jonas Jerebko in the second round. He's been a revelation. Austin Daye, too, has shown flashes of being a dangerous offensive player.
