Kinda hard to believe sabonis is only 25. Seems like he's been around a long time now.

I think Hali is being overrated. He’s a rich man’s Brogdon

I haven't watched enough Kings games to say this with any kind of authority, but I do think Hali has exceeded expectations because his floor is so high. I'm not sure four years from now this trade will seem as much of a head scratcher right now.

That said, I'm still scratching my head. Only the Kings.

Sabonis is the best player in that deal.

Grant still has Chicago, DC, Atlanta as landing spots. Probably waiting for Simmons to be moved and then the remaining also-rans there will turn to Grant. Can't imagine Harrison Barnes is available now with Sacto buying.

Morey will wait to last minute to make sure Dame or Beal isn't made available.

Atlanta will make some move - they didn't trade Reddish for a pick to weaken themselves this year, but to flip that FRP in a package for a better now player.

I read a Brogdon comparison somewhere else, too. First off, a rich man's Brogdon is pretty darn good. And I don't know if he's being overrated. He's shown an awful lot of promise thus far. If he were here, I'd be pissed at the idea of trading him away. Sacramento does have a glut of guards, and if they were ready to make a playoff run with the addition of Sabonis, I'd understand it. But they're not. And in spite of the other guards they have, they do lose something without Hali.

I'm going to go with "Because that trade wasn't offered."

The value is actually not bad for the Kings. Unloaded Buddy, too. Just seems a little off from their timeline.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

In all seriousness, its probably a long-shot (not impossible though) that Hayes ever reaches Haliburton's level. I wonder if Weaver realizes he made the wrong pick?

If they use that trade exception, it could be the 23 and 24 firsts. I would take that in a heartbeat.
