Monroe is worth way more than Otto Porter.

Why? Porter is the 3rd overall pick from the last draft. He has been banged up and hasn't got much of an opportunity behind Ariza and Webster now with Washington a play-off contender. Porter would be on a rookie contract for three more years, Moose is due a HUGE raise. We'd have a lot of FA money to play with would we not if this swap happened?

Sure I'd want more, maybe a future first or something, and a back-up big man coming back our way. 22 games and nine minutes per in those games is not near enough of a sample size to write him off as a bust.

Porter plus Seraphin though?
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

What's the biggest priority... adding offense or defense?

Because moose is a unanimous top 5 pick in a strong 2010 redraft.

I'm curious now to see how this coaching change relates to their thought process on trades. If they are indeed targeting Hollins, logic would say its because of his ability to succeed with a big frontcourt, in which case that could indicate they are planning on keeping all 3 bigs.

In my opinion that's all the more reason to hire Hollins now, and give him a half-season to evaluate this frontcourt, before they have to decide on what to do with Monroe. If they wait until the offseason and then resign Monroe thinking Hollins will just fix everything, and then Monroe still doesn't work, that would be an epic failure.

Better to get that sorted out now if you have time.

I wouldn't mind doing a trade like this(although very unrealistic):

1) Charlie V and Kyle Singler for Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler

2) Jennings/Jerebko/Monroe for Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green

3) Rodney Stuckey for Arron Afflalo.

4) Will Bynum for Steve Blake

Team

Rondo/Blake
Afflalo/Pope
Butler/Green
Smith/Gibson
Drummond/Harrellson

And is going to get max money and isn't ideally a PF and will have to play there with Drummond, and his existance on the Pistons means Josh Smith will have to play SF for the next three years after this current season.

Detroit sends out: Josh Smith, Will Bynum, Jonas Jerebko, Luigi Datome
Detroit gets: Alan Anderson, Reggie Evans, Marquis Teague, Brandon Bass

Boston sends out: Jeff Green, Brandon Bass
Boston gets: Josh Smith

Brooklyn sends out: Alan Anderson, Reggie Evans, Marquis Teauge
Brooklyn gets: Jeff Green, Jonas Jerebko, Will Bynum, Luigi Datome

Brooklyn upgrades from Anderson to Green, Teague to Bynum, and Evans to Jerebko.

Boston dumps a pair of guys they don't need and gets Rondo's buddy.

We lose people they don't need.

We would then have only $27,864,924 committed, assuming we decline Billups' team option. Projected cap for next season is $62.1 million BTW.

Pistons end up like this:
Drummond/Evans/Josh Harrleson
Greg Monroe/Bass/Charlie V/Tony Mitchell
Kyle Sinlger/Alan Anderson
KCP/Stuckey
Jennings/Teague/Billups/Siva

Use the money we have to re-sign Monroe and go out and sign real, useful players, like Deng/Ariza/Hayward at SF and Kyle Lowry and PG. Move Jennings to the bench as 6th man.

Drummond/Evans/Jorts
Monroe/Bass/Mitchell
Hayward/Singler/Anderson
KCP/Anderson
Lowry/Jennings/Teague/Siva

1-3 can shoot and play great defense. Jennings works as the scorer off the bench, with smart vets surrounding him and spacing the floor (especially with Jorts). Playoff team right there, maybe even a 3rd seed depending on what other teams do.

Reading Gores comments about how our "record doesn't reflect our level of talent" makes me less optimistic about any trades. Seems like Gores think we have a good group of talent that just was used poorly.

Villanueva is bought out by Milwaukee because they know him all too well and will end up with the Miami Heat off their bench.

Keep the money and Siva and you can have Mayo.

yeah but its really two fold. Meaning trades weren't going to solve anything as long as Cheeks is coaching. So the fact that they did this now before Feb 20 could be an indicator that they are planning moves, but they want to make sure they have a good coach in place first, so its not just more of the same with a new cast of characters.

Don't be greedy just because you guys ripped Detroit off once already getting Knight and Middleton for Jennings. Pistons don't want those remaining two years on Mayo. Hell you owe us one - include your second rounder in the initial deal I proposed.

Mayo just needs a change of scenery. He's the ultimate buy low candidate.

Trade 1:

Orlando in- Monroe, Jennings, Singler

Detroit in -Oladipo, Glenn Davis

Magic go with a Vucevic/Monroe/Harris/Afflalo/Jennings

Trade 2:

Bulls in- Stuckey/2 2nd round picks

Pistons in- Taj Gibson/Mike Dunleavy

Bulls move well below tax line this year and clear out max cap room with Stuckey's expiring.

Oladipo/Billups/Siva
KCP
______/Datome/Mitchell
Smith/Gibson
Drummond/Harrellson

That's ~$40 mil the summer of 2015.

We have ~$17 mil in next year expirings in BBD/Jerebko/Dunleavy/Bynum with max cap room the summer of 2015.

2015 UFA - Rondo, Love, LMA, Jeff Green
2015 RFA - Kwahi Leonard, Tobias Harris, Klay Thompson, Rubio

This team isn't going to make any big trades at this point. How can you put your faith in a lame duck GM who knows his days are numbered?

Look at this rumored trade on r/NBA

Here is an excerpt from the article:
"The report states that the Bulls would be giving up Carlos Boozer, Kirk Hinrich, Tony Snell, Jimmy Butler, and likely a first round pick as well. In return, Chicago would receive Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton, and Iman Shumpert."

Basically Knicks only get Snell and Butler for Melo. Terrible deal for the Knicks

Pistons could and should offer this deal to the Knicks:

Monroe, Stuckey, Charlie V, Bynum, Datome
for
Melo, Felton, Shumpert

Melo will resign with Detroit because he simply doesnt want to leave the extra 35M on the table. If the Knicks dont want to include Shumpert the money still works out and makes the deal even better for the Knicks.

Jennings - Shumpert - Melo - Smith - Drummond
Felton - KCP - Singler - Jerebko - Harrelson

Don't even bite on those Carmelo Anthony rumors. The Knicks aren't trading him.

But he won't resign in Detroit, Melo want a bigger market for business, Chicago has a MJ connection to his shoes line plus bigger market, rumor has it that he would resign there. So what other trades you got?
