@sfballa: I wouldn't place Biyombo so high. A veteran defensive/offensive combo pitch with Smith/Jefferson could be intriguing enough to convince the Hornets. I agree with you that Singler would probably have to be added in the trade offer.

@Kilo: We'll only do the deal if Monroe guarantee's he'll re-sign with the Pistons.

There is about zero chance Charlotte trade Stephenson this year. But, they are trying to unload Henderson.

Sacramento needs to do something and ASAP given they're currently the 9th seed in the West with Denver surging and only a game back of them, Pellies a game and a half behind them and OKC getting healthy.

Ahead of Sacto right now - Memphis, GS, Portland, Houston, SA, Dallas, Clippers and PHX - they need to catch one of these teams still and not be passed by Denver, Pellies or OKC just to get the 8th seed in the West. Given their reclamation project success with Gay I figure they'd be more open to the idea of being able to "fix" Josh Smith as well, and they are using Landry and Thompson currently as their PF's.

I think a deal could be there if Stan wanted to make one right now.

Sacramento could use someone like Josh Smith over Jason Thompson so badly right now it ain't funny. I really wonder why they haven't worked up any deal outside the Pistons asking too much for Josh, hahaha.

The trade with SAC makes too much sense not to. The West is insanely competitive and they need every "edge" they need no matter how bad. Boogie is a stretch 5ish anyways since he can shoot a bit and all Josh has to do is stay near the paint. Josh can be Boogie's Z-Bo like the Grizzlies albeit a massively underperforming offense one.

Folks gotta get over that Sacramento trade rumor. It was never true and we're not trading Josh Smith for trash.

I wonder if we could get Stauskas in a Sacto deal given the McLemore breakout season and the re-signing of Gay meaning no minutes for Nik.

Josh Smith
Kyle Singler
Tony Mitchell

for

Jason Thompson or Carl Landry - Sacto's choice
Derrick Williams
Nik Stauskas

Otherwise take out Singler and Stauskas and sub in Datome and Ray McCallum and it's our choice of Landry/Thompson.

^Both cases work via the trade checker.

Nobody wants to pay 13.5 to josh smith for the next 2-3 years. If DET wants to get rid of him, they would have to be the one giving up prospects and picks to dump him.

^They're going to pay Landry/Thompson $13.5M combined the next two years - Smith outperforms them even if it is the new hotness to bash Smoove.

People said the same about Rudy Gay, who was putting up 20ppg on the raps on HORRIBLE efficiency. The kings obviously felt a scenery change would do him well, and they were right. Who's to say they don't feel the same about Jsmoove, who during his best year was easily a better player than Rudy Gay.

He's only a few years removed from putting up 19/10/4/2 with the hawks and still only 28 years old. If it doesn't work out, then he becomes a very valuable 14 mil expiring after next season.

While it would be nice to get rid of J-Smooth, forcing him on an exciting team like the Kings is just being mean to them...

Smoove has been passing a lot lately - I wonder if Stan Van instructed him to do so in order to try and peddle him as a facilitator who's bad shot selection would become less of an issue on a team with better scoring options - ie he's a willing passer who shoots because nobody else here is willing to.

Josh Smith to the Kings is such an obvious perfect fit it ain't even funny. He's a versitle player who as a 3rd option can give you 15 points, 8 rebounds and possibly 4-7 assists. Remember, Rudy Gay shot 40.7 from the field the previous season and a half before joining the Kings.

Josh was just as much of an idiot in ATL as he is here in DET except he fitted the Hawks because they had a stretch Center(Horford) and a SG/SF who could get you 20(Joe Johnson). Oh and they was a Playoff team.

Kings got almost the same thing with Cousins and Gay. Perfect fit. Kings HAS to make the Playoffs. They GOT to make a move. They can't go ANOTHER season without making the Playoffs. Smith is that guy for them.

Stan Van Gundy is showing teams that smith is a heck of a facilitator as a Forward. Now, if Stan can get Smith FG% up to around 44%(He needs easy baskets which he rarely if every gets) and his PPG back up to 15/16 by February that would be the perfect time for SVG to offer him to the Kings.

I don't think Detroit can wait until February, and if Sacto is the team, I don' t think they could wait until then either - the West is insane and they're in a dog fight with PHX, NO, Denver, OKC for the last play-off spot basically with Memphis, Golden State, Portland, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, LAC basically locks to make the play-offs barring injuries.

I agree. I think a trade will happen in January. If smith has a good Month in DEC(Basisally, be more efficient and rack up the assists) I think a trade will definitely happen. Sacremento got more to lose my NOT trading for him then DET does by keeping him.

Would it be the worst thing to trade Josh Smith for the probably out for year Eric Gordon at this point?

With the Kings fading and Smith's assist numbers up now is the time to trade

Thompson and Williams would be such a nice trade, I really think it was SVG that said no, got greedy

Thompson is a serviceable starting big in the West and would free up 6.5M to spend this offseason

PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN so we can let Moose start, flop, and maybe keep him on a discount somehow

We are not fading cousins hasn't played last 2 games and gay/Collison missed 2 games last week too. Also we have played the hardest schedule and in December we get a weak schedule and cousins back.

But I still also think a deal should be made between us but no way I trade Thompson. Dude has been great in defense vs every PF we have played and our starter have good chemistry. Now I would offer landry/DWill/sessions and only add McCallum if it's a must and you don't want sessions.

Don't want or need Sessions.

How much faith does management have in McLemore? IF he's the guy at SG for the foreseeable future then perhaps the Pistons could get an asset out of the deal as opposed to just Landry & Williams?
