What a game. But seeing the Cavs struggling makes me me giddy in the hopes that they don't walk to the Finals like every Lebron led team since 8 years ago due to the absolute comical state of the East while the West continues to be a bloodbath.

I'm so tired of seeing that.

Don't be fooled. Regular season doldrums. Cavs will still roll through the East.

Welp, it was a matter of time before the lockerroom consisting of non-shooters and one Rondo to turn that into a powdered keg.

The Bulls locker is absolute toxic right now. Everyone taking shots at each other. I wouldn't even want to go in if I had a press badge.

We certainly deserve the lack of confidence but just to put it out there. The RealGM General Board has almost twice as many people who think Philly will make the playoffs (14) as us (8). The 76ers have been on their game lately and they are 4.5 games out. I'd be tempted to put them over us as well....

(although I still think we'll find a rhythm once we get everyone back to 100%ish and that we'll be in the playoffs)

Watching the 76ers game, it's refreshing to see a team in blue, red and white appear to be enthused about playing basketball.

Honestly think that Embiid deserves at least one vote for MVP this season.

The way he almost singlehandedly turned around the culture and got the fanbase selling out like crazy is insane. It helps that he's arguably been the best developing bigman in the league this season.

Let that be a lesson for us in the future when we inevitably start sucking badly again. Multiple top 5 picks = great hype generator and something the fanbase can rally behind.

He's one of the most talented players ever and he's far from his prime.

I totally agree with you. Just this team with Markelle Fultz showing REAL talent on the court is a lot more attractive to watch than Reggie handling the ball during 20 seconds or those ridiculous soft layups for a guy who should dunk on anybody on this league.

Here here!

It frustrates the hell out of me when people say we shouldn't tank and that its terrible to watch. I'd much rather watch 2 developing players with insane upside compete every night while losing almost every game instead of an 8 seed team with players that don't care or have any chance at contending.

This teams ceiling isn't any higher than a 5th or 4th seed, what's the point in playing if you're not trying to win it all?

Plus, if you still have that basketball drive and passion even with the constant losing, you have all the heart in the world. That's something that literally cannot be taught which is to say otherwise for our group led by RJ and Dre.

That's what sets apart Embiid and others, he looks insanely grateful to be even be out there.

1 - not every organisation wants to win a championship. Making the playoffs every year for 5 years might be all they want

2 - getting guys with heart, athleticism and talent seems to be the holy grail! NBA teams been scouting forever but still select busts - in my humble opinion it's because they don't worry enough about WHY a player plays the game

You look at the real killers of the past 20 years - Jordan & Kobe. They were possessed by basketball. It wasn't a game to them and it wasn't a sport or a profession

It was their addiction to winning the competition that made them great.

On a cold night in Brooklyn in the middle of January what motivates Drummond or RJ to go out and dominate the opponent?

They're paid millions to play the game, they've got their starting spots, they have "made it"

You gotta have guys that somewhere inside them they wake up on that cold January morning, look at the scouting reports and say "**** Brooklyn! We're gonna destroy these clowns tonight" & then they spend the hour before tip off making sure that their team mates KNOW that tonight we kill them!

And then when the job is done they praise their team mates in interviews, go shower and dress and get on the bus then the plane...and while on the bus & plane they joke and mess around

Once they land and get on the next bus they mess around some more, get to the hotel and make sure their team mates are in their rooms and then they go to sleep...only to wake up and repeat the process again in some other city the next day

Dre ain't got time for that & neither does Reggie!

And THAT is why we have failed to meet reasonable expectations this season

As much as SVG wants us to be Spurs Central the big fella needs to know that our culture is what is killing us - not our talent or his system

IMO we will not meet reasonable expectations with RJ & Dre as our "top 2" players

If we start playing the young guys and "tank" we'll probably end up winning more since those guys will be actually trying. I'd say we're pretty much tanking now

Abso-freakin-lutely!
Saying that, what kind of guys are like that in the league? Cause we need to target these guy. Patrick Beverley and Tony Allen are like that. I/we want / need a player like that to get behind.
Last nights game was bizzaro world. Dre played hard and KCP didn't. If Dre comes out like that every game we'll be ok. That's a big if though.

These are "my" guys - players that I don't question their work ethic or professionalism that could be available:

Millsap
MKG
RoLo
Gallinari
Jameer
Redick
Rubio
Courtney Lee
Jrue
Knight
Mason Plumlee
Harkless
Aminu
CJ

Looking at that small list of "available" guys a trade with Portland makes a lot of sense to me.

Dre for CJ & Plumlee as the base, expand it to include a team with cap room to make the numbers work.

Portland build with Dre & Dame, we've got a gun backcourt with KCP & CJ

That said I think we stand pat and hope continuity kicks in next season

Would love CJ.
Would also love to make our defense a lot better by acquiring Milsap somehow someway. Atlanta said they wanted a 1st. Give it to them. Also give them Boban Ish and Morris. That way if milsap opts out, which he probably will, we'll have enough space under luxury tax to keep him and resign kcp. We need a real starting PF here and we have one too many SF's. Lmao and I just realized I sabotaged this thread to do another trade idea which I promised I wouldn't do in the trade thread hahaha. Anyways. Milsap is awesome

Our PF position is fine, Jon Leuer and Tobias Harris are some of our more productive players, you're not gonna have a all-star caliber player at every position. We need our center to start playing defense first and foremost.

Apparently when you pay young players crazy money for their potential, they coast.........................I absolutely hated Embiid at the beginning of the season, he lacked respect and had that attitude that he's earned his already, and then i watched him play several times and can't help but cheer for him. You can see the passion in the way he plays and the "i hate to lose mentality". When i watch our 2 core players play, i see entitlement and stupidity. I want to shoot myself in the f* foot everytime Dre runs down the court and just post up, not paying attention to whats going on but just wanting to get his and normally turning it into a 3 second call. He has the mentality of dumb HS kidd that wants his highlights.
