Reaction when seeing headline: "Holy ****, finally"
Then I saw the deal... I hope that pick is lottery protected at least, and starts at like 2015 at the earliest.

I'm okay with this.

Is the projected 2013 class any good?

I would have survived 2 more years with Gordon. Now we just gave up a pick.

Mags expiring deal could give us great trade flexibility this year.

This gives us a lot of flexibility with our cap space now that we don't have to choose between amnestying CV or BG.

Yeah this is the last year on Maggette's contract. It also saves about $1.5 mil. this year but I don't think that makes much of a difference. It will be interesting to see if they actually keep Maggette around though.

MJ is Joe D's son when it comes trade time.
As for this trade though, if we were going to give up that pick, wouldn't it have been better to use it to move for Drummond?
Anyways I can't complain, as I LOVE that Joe D is back wheeling and dealing and being aggressive. 1st trade in 3 yrs is cause for celebration!

WTF?!?!
Ben Gordon would have been a large expiring contract next season, he would have been able to get more value then, and this trade does nothing to help us at any time until next year. Gordon has a much higher chance of being valuable to the Pistons this coming season, too...
It's quite likely that will be a middle first round pick IMO so it is not that valuable but I do not see where this is going. I hope Magette doesn't play. Makes me think of Dumars trading with Jordan to get Hamilton from Stackhouse and MJ boasting how he ripped off Dumars...
I also thought Charlotte was trying to tank a bit longer... "OKC model", etc.
That said this gives an opportunity to sign a FA sooner and I have no insight on future FA signings and since this does not seem to have cost us anything big I'm not torn about the trade. Disappointed BG never played to his/our expectations here.

Maybe he knows/thinks he'll have to.
