The whole idea of using all our cap space on Monta is very "meh" IMO. Very Ben Gordon part II-ish.

it depends on how much he ellis costs.
I'd like to see joe go after either millsap or Speights too.

I wouldn't mind it if this is our last option...People have to remember that Monte Ellis game is totally different from Ben Gordon's...Monte Ellis can penetrate, shot, and he's great at stealing the ball(He reminds me of Iverson)...Ben Gordon is a 6th man that gets extremely hot some games then extremely cold other games...

wed basically have no point guards two chuckers and a SF as our back court rotation, a guy whos past his prime and a green rookie at SF, no D whatsoever at the 4 and two backup centers who cant play. if Ben had anything left he'd be on the team this year, next year he'll be a year older and a year removed from the game. who knows what VK will bring next season but we definitely cant put all our backup center eggs in that basket again. add all that to the fact we now have a 5 year 65-75 million dollar albatross contract on the roster (Ellis) and I think it would be a disaster.

Probably something around 4-40/4-45 would be my guess.
And I agree with you, I think Joe should go after a big. I think Millsap is out of question tho and not sure if Joe like Speights, he had the chance to acquire him for cheap last season and he didn't.
I believe Joe will go after Ellis and with the money he has left he will go after a defensive big. I didn't want to think/speculate much on the big guy's name so I threw Big Ben there

I don't like the Ellis idea as my first choice. I'd be ok with it I guess. I'd rather see the Pistons add Jose Calderon. Every time I watch Knight, I keep seeing Jason Terry when he was with the Hawks. I'd really like to see Calderon as our starting PG, move Stuckey back to the starting SG spot. Make Knight our sixth man. Slide Singler back to the back-up 3/occassional 2, move Drummond to the starting five, Monroe to the starting 4, Krastov to the back-up C, and one of the following as a back-up 4 (DNP-CV, Daye, or Jerebko. I'll pick Daye since I think the other two are gone).
My 2012 Line-up:
G Jose Calderon/Brandon Knight
G Rodney Stuckey/Brandon Knight/Kyle Singler
F TayShaun Prince/Kyle Singler/Austin Daye
F Greg Monroe/Austin Daye
C Andre Drummond/Vychaslov Krastov

Would rather risk that money on josh smith and gamble on him being a sf. I would even rather pay Iggy than Monta.
Knight-Stuck-smith-monroe-drummond or knight-iggy-prince-monroe-drummond would be a lot better IMO.

^Iggy would be a good idea, I would probably only offer him a 2yr deal though...Maybe something like 2yr/25mil...

Dude, I would not be happy with that. Monta is NOT Pistons material. He's a great offensive player but we in the D need guys who know how to defend the ball. If this happens I jump on the "Fire Dumars" bandwagon for the first time ever!!

That is such a small backcourt that would get crushed and would "Never" contend for a ship.
