JJ Redick?

Just watching him abuse us the last couple of games, could Redick be the piece that could get us into the playoffs?
He's an excellent perimeter defender and excellent outside scorer. Someone who can catch and shoot, which means Knight would finally have a shooter to pass to.

We could go after him this summer in free agency but there is no way the Magic trade him to us.

Yes. Would love to add him. Would be a perfect fit at the SG spot.

Contract year playing well. Seems little shady. i like Reddick as a 6th man, but as the missing piece , no way

I would much rather have Mayo because he can get his own shot and is a much better playmaker who is also an elite 3 point shooter. If we can't get Mayo this offseason I would gladly welcome Redick.

I would love to get JJ, but he may be playing his way out of a comfortable price range. earlier in the season I was hoping we could get him for about 6 million a year to be a gunner off the bench which is what he is, if he keeps playing like he has been somebodys going to pay him starters money which hes not worth.

Off the bench for $4 mil/yr max? maybe. He's basically the white BG. And that was all BG shouldve made.

No defense, no real playmaking or rebounding. He's a great 3 pt shooter of the Kyle Korver/ Gordon mold, but thats about it.

I wouldnt pay more than 4 mil/yr for a one dimensional 3pt shooter off the bench. He will probably get a lot more from some dumb team thinking hes a starter, so probably wont fit here

I don't want Ben Gordon part two. The Magic supposedly are looking for a pick and a young piece for him. I don't see Detroit being interested in him. If we were interested in going with an undersized two, I'd just move Knight to SG in all honesty.

Just goes to show how little value people put on proper spacing

and one would assume a team that hopes to build around 2 All-Star calibre bigs would be looking at guys like Redick and wondering just how effective his mere presence on the floor would make our big men!

Dude wouldn't even need to launch 20 shots a game to be help us on the floor. By simply being out there - being a huge 3 point threat - you get better spacing for our bigs!

Guys like Redick are extremely under-rated IMO. In a league of supreme athletes, on a court that seems far too small for them spacing is everything!

You put 2 lights out shooters around Knight, Monroe and Drummond and our young guys shine! Obviously you don't want turnstiles out there on the other end of the floor but if they can hold their own most of the time on the defensive end then they are worthwhile having.

The white BG? Not even close. BG was/is an under-sized SG that needs the ball in his hands to be most effective. Redck is the complete opposite

Reddick is still undersized in all honesty. I'd rather have a guy with size at the SG spot like Thabo Sefoloshia who can defend and hit a spot up three.

It wasn't meant to be a joke. It's exactly what he is!! Maybe a tad bit better in that he can play some D too!!

A very reasonable and thought-out post. Given that we are building around 2 very skilled bigs, having a lights-out shooter does space the floor much better and offensively makes us a better all around team. Now does he put us over the top? Naw. But a potentially nice piece to add

Ditto on Thabo as well, but I doubt OKC lets him walk

Not to change the subject, but I think Detroit needs Orlandos other SG..ex-Piston Arron Afflalo. And if we can convince them to take back Stuckey as part of it, two birds one stone.

How is a guy who is taller, longer, bigger and a better shooter than Joe Dumars undersized?

IMHO Dumars and quite frankly we should look at the Spurs model and how they built around DRob and Duncan. I just dont believe we need some superstar wing player to win. We need to find some Sean Elliots, Andersons, S Jackson and a Tony Parker.

have you watched him play lately? He is avdecent defender and actually a good play maker. And he will get offers of more than $4mil/yr.

He's a career 1.9 asts/gm and he;s 28. I don't think he's suddenly become a good playmaker. If you're giving him a contract you should base it off his whole resume, not just half a season. Unless you want to risk being duped.

This year is his best season and he's only avg 15 pts and 4 asts, and he's 28 yrs old and undersized for his position. He's an MLE player at best. Probably $4-5 mil/yr. Anything more and you are overpaying. I'm not saying no team will overpay for him, but that doesn't mean he's worth that.

If you think Dre AND Moose will be Top 10 players of all time at their respective positions, then yeah that's all we need. However, I'm not putting all my eggs in that basket so early on in their careers and overpaying for role players.
