What does Brandon Knight do well?

I'm interested in hearing people's opinions about what his actual strengths as a player are.

He drives the lane well although he has trouble finishing, he is a solid shooter, he handles the ball well, he plays great defense and is very quick and athletic. He has a great work ethic but his only problem seems to be his decision making and his awareness at this point

Shooting, defending, and I think he's an underrated rebounder for a guard, even though his rebounding numbers are nothing special.

Before you point to his low FG% and say he's not a good shooter, thats just a product of him taking bad shots. You look at him shoot 3s and he's obviously a great shooter. He's not a great finisher at the rim, however, especially in traffic. So all those bad shots he forces in traffic at the rim cause his overall % to go way down.

The last 2 games illustrate it perfect. In the SA game, he had a great balance between jumpshots and dribble drives, and went 10-21. Last night, he took way too many chances driving into the paint in traffic, and not enough set jumpshots, and went 2-13. All the jumpshots he took last night, I thought he rushed too.

When he can just relax, take his time, get set and shoot jumpshots, he can be a great shooter. And in this offense with Monroe getting doubled a lot, and Calderon being a capable shooter, he should get a lot of those opportunities. Its not often I want to see a player take more jumpshots and less in the paint, but thats what I think Knight needs to do for us to be most successful. Not unlike Rip, who you also prefer to take jumpshots rather than driving to the basket. If he can get a 70-30 ratio of jumpshots to drives, I think that would be ideal.

He's a poor ball handler and he turns the ball over all the time when he tries to drive the lane. I can't remember a NBA starting point guard who had as high dribble as BK, that's why he turns over the ball all the time when dribbling.

Pros:
+ Very quick, can run the floor before the defense sets up.
+ Good long/mid-range shooter.
+ Plays good defense.
+ Young and has upside.

Cons:
- Poor passer for a guard, especially on transition.
- Can't set up a solid pick and roll.
- Forces/rushes bad shots/passes which increases his turnovers, lowers his FG%.
- Cannot set the correct pace, usually too fast on transition sets up himself or others for off. fouls.
- Doesn't use the shot clock efficiently, makes fast but bad decisions.
- Not a very good ball handler, can't execute the plays he could in Kentucky.

Think he can have a good career as a quick, hard working, enthusiastic shooting guard, who can defend, pass and knock down a jumper.

Nothing wrong with that and hope it is with the pistons.

Could be a great sixth man, maybe a solid starter next to a dominant scorer... His defense and effort gives me enough reason to keep him and love him

I think he could easily be as good as Williams. He's spent his career as a 14ppg scorer on 42% shooting... Seems completely reasonable...

Lou Williams is getting overrating here. Knight is already as good as Williams, in terms of production.

Their stats are pretty much identical the last 2 years.

It's just style of play, bk is probably better than Lou, but he still needs to play off the ball a little more to be Lou Williams which I think he will

A GREAT backup or a situational starter but hardly the PGOTF some people still expect him to become.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Right now the only thing BK does well is be inconsistent. I REALLY hope he finds his consistency because when he does he's going to be a force to be reckoned with!!
