Seems like he might be available, but looking at our assets, not sure if we have what it would take to get him. I'd love to use my standard "we'll give you Stuckey and CV" but I don't think that gets it done

Anything outside of Monroe and Drummond seems fair game. Anyone have any realistic ideas?

he would be nice but i dont really see anything here. granger is coming from a knee injury and is around 30 years old if im not mistaken

Indy's going to want too much for him and he's not enough of a game changer to really make that big of a impact on this team, or at least for us to sacrifice assets. Indy most certainly be looking for a first

I actually like Granger and think we need a go-to scorer, which he is. But he's about to turn 30 in April and that knee is scary. Not to mention he is making 13 million dollars...

Other than expirings, I wouldn't give up anything for him. to 30+ guys in the SL again is kind of a turnoff as well.

I think a package around Knight is realistic and something IND would consider.

Personally when you consider Granger's age and injury history, I think Knight + EXP is about as good a deal as IND will get. Most contenders that will be interested won't have the young talent like Knight to offer. And most of the young teams probably don't have young players as good as Knight that they are willing to trade.

We are fortunate to have multiple valuable young players, and can afford to trade one, whereas most teams only have 1 or 2 goof young players and need to keep thme

If he was 26 and coming off that same injury, yes. At 29 it depends on the asking price. He's certainly on the market given how well George is playing and his salary isn't that big a concern considering he's only got a year and a half remaining. This isn't like Eric Gordon who's contract runs through '15-'16.

If healthy he's an ideal fit on the court. Obviously not a long term solution given his age, but nothing wrong with bringing in another solid vet or two if they fit. I just wouldn't give up a ton to get him, especially considering he is a risk.

Why for Detroit, Granger is a major upgrade at the three and we move players that no longer fit with the team going forward for one that might. We also move the last two remaining long term veteran contracts on the team (not counting CV who we could amnesty). Worse comes to worse we have a valuable exp contract next year.

Why for Indiana, if the Pacers have decided to move on from Granger and he is no longer in there plans, they get a decent back up in combo guard in Stuckey who's contract is only partially guaranteed, a good Backup 4/5 in Maxiell that is an exp. deal, and a 3/4/ that has showed flashes of being a good rolepalyer, or at worst, a contributing "hustle guy" in Jerebko. With Grangers injury history, age, and the fact he might not be 100% healthy until next season, this might be enough.

The Pacers can't afford to keep both players and the odd man out is Granger. I think they'll trade him the way Harden was traded because of financial reasons. Given that they are going to lose him, they are going to take the most they can get for him. I think he'll be traded this summer.

i don't think they'll get nearly as much, but i do think they can get better than whatever detroit offers

We might be able to get him for our 2013 pick!

The tax looms large for many teams and the Pacers are one of them... it might not take as much as some might think to get Granger out of Indiana.

The fact we're a division rival clouds the situation though.

This fact is usually overlooked. Besides, he is a nice shooter and doesn't rely that much in his athleticism.... I think there's still good 4 years in him. High reward / Medium risk ... even if he is not the same after the injury, his contract will come off the books just in time before Monroe's extension kicks in.

I'd offer Stuckey, Jerebko & Two 2013 2nd round picks for Granger. Granger is 30, Bad knees, A 40% shooter making over 13 million per year. I wouldn't trade our cap space away for him.

I wouldn't trade a pick for him, but I wouldn't expect Indy to jump at the likes of Stuckey & JJ either.

I do think he will be moved. I guess we would probably have to throw in Knight, but if we keep Calderon, then it might not be a bad deal. Then we get a SG via draft and/or free agency, and we'd be:

PG: Calderon
SG: Mayo
SF: Granger
PF: Monroe
C: Drummond

For all the talk about Indiana trading Granger -- and many execs believe the Pacers would like to do just that -- I'm told by a person close to the situation that the small forward will be going nowhere before the deadline. The Pacers like the thought of sliding All-Star Paul George to the shooting guard position to make room for Granger in the starting lineup. One of Indiana's main concerns is strengthening its bench, and it feels moving current starting two-guard Lance Stephenson into a reserve role will accomplish that.

Good - maybe putting Stephenson back into a backup role will help limit his pricetag this offseason.
